• A team from Kampala attended aTraining Course on “Concepts andMethods for Research and Management”in Nairobi, Kenya

• The Team Presented a City proposal on“Community – Based Solid WasteManagement for UA” for seed funding.

• The idea of integrating UA into Urbandesigns, was developed between KampalaTeam and Some of the workshop organiserswhile in Nairobi,i.e.

• ETC-RUAF• IDRC• UMP

• Ideas and proposal were taken up by KCCExecutive, and offered land for the project.

Highlights of site users

• 43 site users were met• 82% men 18 % women• 80% of the site users were involved in Brick

laying• 70% of them had been using the site for period

of 1-4 years• Over 50% got to know about availability of site

through friends
