Purpose
• Why does the team exist? Is this clearly understood and adhered to both by team members and other stakeholders?
• What are the key roles? How consistent and coherent are they? Is any clarification needed?
• By what criteria does the team hold itself accountable (or indeed is held accountable by others)? Are these explicit, fully understood and monitored during the dynamics work as a team or as individual members?
Process
• Which key processes that the team manages (resourcing, staff development, etc) are working well and which need improvement or development?
• How clear and agreed are typical team problem solving and decision making processes? Are they followed consistently?
• How does the team resolve conflict/difference of opinion, either in the group or between group members?
• How effectively does the team surface the ‘elephants in the room’? How do members act at awkward moments?
People
• How well does the team understand and utilise its individual talents?
• How able are team members/the team as a group to resolve difficulties with interfaces between members?
• How well are support needs of individual members understood and acted upon?
• Do people know what they are valued for and what behaviours may be getting in the way for colleagues?
Partnerships
• What are the critical interfaces for the team as a whole and for individual team members? How well are they working?
• How well are these understood and supported by all team members, regardless of geographic or organisational considerations?
