Let’s Make a Text to Text Let’s Make a Text to Text Connection!Connection!

In the book Bridge to Terabithia, Jess protects Leslie from the stares and cruel remarks of their classmates. This part of Bridge to Terabithia reminds me of the book Number the Stars. In Number the Stars, Annemarie works to protect Ellen from the Nazi soldiers. Both Bridge to Terabithia and Number the Stars share the theme of friendship. In Number the Stars ,Annemarie works to protect Ellen from the Nazi soldiers like Jess protects Leslie from their classmates in Bridge to Terabithia.

Think about a Text to Text Connection that you can make to Bridge to Terabithia.

Now Try a Text to Self Now Try a Text to Self Connection!Connection!

Think about a connection you can make between Bridge to Terabithia and yourself. In the book, Bridge to Terabithia, Leslie has just arrived on the first day of school at Lark Creek Elementary. As the classroom door opened, all of the students stared at Leslie. I can connect to this because when I first came to McGee, I was brand new to the school on the first day. Leslie and I both felt anxious and excited. We were anxious because we both were in a brand new school. We were excited at the possibilities that a new school year held.

Just like Jess’ family in the novel, families today are also struggling to make a living. Many parents work long hours while their children are left at home to take care of themselves.
