The story of the 3D production by Big Al Gruswitz of Boundless Creativity

The following 4 images were produced for Vogel Farina Advertising for their client DepoDur®, a morphine drip for pain after surgery.
Headline: "Are your patients immobilized by postsurgical pain? Get Them Going With DepoDur."

How the images were produced
![Page 8: Make the Lincoln Memorial Statue & then make him walk!](https://reader030.vdocuments.us/reader030/viewer/2022032422/55a8ce3a1a28ab26308b45e5/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
A middle-resolution model of
the Lincoln Memorial
was purchased.
![Page 9: Make the Lincoln Memorial Statue & then make him walk!](https://reader030.vdocuments.us/reader030/viewer/2022032422/55a8ce3a1a28ab26308b45e5/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
This is the interior of original purchased model.
Note: wrong type of column and lack of detail in walls, chair, platform, and columns.
However, the model did providea guide as to the proper proportionsof the Memorial.
![Page 10: Make the Lincoln Memorial Statue & then make him walk!](https://reader030.vdocuments.us/reader030/viewer/2022032422/55a8ce3a1a28ab26308b45e5/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
A highly-detailed Ionic column model was purchased.
![Page 11: Make the Lincoln Memorial Statue & then make him walk!](https://reader030.vdocuments.us/reader030/viewer/2022032422/55a8ce3a1a28ab26308b45e5/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
Models were made and surfaces produced for walls, statue base, and chair. Then the camera and lights were positioned.
![Page 12: Make the Lincoln Memorial Statue & then make him walk!](https://reader030.vdocuments.us/reader030/viewer/2022032422/55a8ce3a1a28ab26308b45e5/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
Starting with a generic
Poser head,
![Page 13: Make the Lincoln Memorial Statue & then make him walk!](https://reader030.vdocuments.us/reader030/viewer/2022032422/55a8ce3a1a28ab26308b45e5/html5/thumbnails/13.jpg)
it was first morphed in
Poser as close as
possible to look like Lincoln.
![Page 14: Make the Lincoln Memorial Statue & then make him walk!](https://reader030.vdocuments.us/reader030/viewer/2022032422/55a8ce3a1a28ab26308b45e5/html5/thumbnails/14.jpg)
Next, the morphed head was
brought into ZBrush
where it was “molded”
much like a clay model—
only in polygons.
![Page 15: Make the Lincoln Memorial Statue & then make him walk!](https://reader030.vdocuments.us/reader030/viewer/2022032422/55a8ce3a1a28ab26308b45e5/html5/thumbnails/15.jpg)
Rough hair and beard
were added with further
molding.
![Page 16: Make the Lincoln Memorial Statue & then make him walk!](https://reader030.vdocuments.us/reader030/viewer/2022032422/55a8ce3a1a28ab26308b45e5/html5/thumbnails/16.jpg)
Details were then added to the hair
and beard to finish the
head.
![Page 17: Make the Lincoln Memorial Statue & then make him walk!](https://reader030.vdocuments.us/reader030/viewer/2022032422/55a8ce3a1a28ab26308b45e5/html5/thumbnails/17.jpg)
Here is the finished head
in the final scene with a
marble surface texture applied.
![Page 18: Make the Lincoln Memorial Statue & then make him walk!](https://reader030.vdocuments.us/reader030/viewer/2022032422/55a8ce3a1a28ab26308b45e5/html5/thumbnails/18.jpg)
Poser figures were first posed and
then brought into ZBrush where they
were molded the same way the head was manipulated.
![Page 19: Make the Lincoln Memorial Statue & then make him walk!](https://reader030.vdocuments.us/reader030/viewer/2022032422/55a8ce3a1a28ab26308b45e5/html5/thumbnails/19.jpg)
The Poser wardrobe
needed to be molded to
match Lincoln’s wardrobe.
![Page 20: Make the Lincoln Memorial Statue & then make him walk!](https://reader030.vdocuments.us/reader030/viewer/2022032422/55a8ce3a1a28ab26308b45e5/html5/thumbnails/20.jpg)
Also in ZBrush the coattails were draped to match the actual statue.
![Page 21: Make the Lincoln Memorial Statue & then make him walk!](https://reader030.vdocuments.us/reader030/viewer/2022032422/55a8ce3a1a28ab26308b45e5/html5/thumbnails/21.jpg)
Many of the details of the
Poser wardrobe
needed to be modified.
![Page 22: Make the Lincoln Memorial Statue & then make him walk!](https://reader030.vdocuments.us/reader030/viewer/2022032422/55a8ce3a1a28ab26308b45e5/html5/thumbnails/22.jpg)
After molding, the vest, collar, lapel, coat and
shoes matched the Memorial
statue.
(Note the client requested that Lincoln
have a slight smile in the standing images.)
![Page 23: Make the Lincoln Memorial Statue & then make him walk!](https://reader030.vdocuments.us/reader030/viewer/2022032422/55a8ce3a1a28ab26308b45e5/html5/thumbnails/23.jpg)
In each pose the Poser
wardrobe had to be modified.
![Page 24: Make the Lincoln Memorial Statue & then make him walk!](https://reader030.vdocuments.us/reader030/viewer/2022032422/55a8ce3a1a28ab26308b45e5/html5/thumbnails/24.jpg)
Additional details such as fit and draping were molded
into the figure’s
wardrobe.
![Page 25: Make the Lincoln Memorial Statue & then make him walk!](https://reader030.vdocuments.us/reader030/viewer/2022032422/55a8ce3a1a28ab26308b45e5/html5/thumbnails/25.jpg)
Because the Poser
wardrobe doesn’t drape
with gravity,
![Page 26: Make the Lincoln Memorial Statue & then make him walk!](https://reader030.vdocuments.us/reader030/viewer/2022032422/55a8ce3a1a28ab26308b45e5/html5/thumbnails/26.jpg)
those details were added in
ZBrush making the figure
appear more relaxed and
animated.
![Page 27: Make the Lincoln Memorial Statue & then make him walk!](https://reader030.vdocuments.us/reader030/viewer/2022032422/55a8ce3a1a28ab26308b45e5/html5/thumbnails/27.jpg)
It took 4 years for Daniel Chester French
to complete the original
Lincoln Memorial statue.
It took Boundless Creativity 19 days.
