Aluminum Cans Steel Cans Class Bottles and Jars Newspapers Corrugated Cardboard
It 's Your Business! The recycling economy is one of the
largest job engines in the state.
Recycling jobs as a percentage of the
state's total employment has increased
40 percent in the past 10 years.
14,000 North Carolinas work in the
recycling industry.
A 20 percent increase in recycling would
create as many as 500 new jobs.

Many common household items can be dangerous to people and the environment if disposed of improperly. They may also pose a threat to children and pets if left around your home.
These items should never be placed in your garbage cgrt or recyciing bin.
Examples of HHW include: oil-based paints pesticides and herbicides furniture strippers solvents and glues mercury thermometers fluorescent light bulbs (office and compact fluorescent lights bulbs) batteries of all types motor oil, cooking oil, and anti-freeze must be brought to the Waste Disposal and Recycling Center (operating hours inside) NOT the H HW Facility

Curbside Collection
All containers should be rinsed and dry. There should be no food residue. All lids and caps go in the trash. It's okay to leave labels on. Place shredded paper in a brown paper bag before placing in the bin. Place bins a t the curb by 7 a.m. (6 a.m. during the summer months)
Remove bins promptly after servicing. Contact Durham One Call a t 560-1 200 if your bin is missed for collection or broken.
