ADELLIE REQUENAThe psychology major is the first in her family to graduate high school and attend college, and she’s determined to make the most of it. For the cross country and track and field athlete, this meant spending a sophomore semester studying abroad in Florence, Italy, while working to become a children’s therapist. Make no mistake, she is working hard to balance school, work, and sports to finish in record time.

NICK BASTIENMarian’s professional network has helped the accounting major and former all-region high school football player take his passion for baseball and turn it into an internship with the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders, an amateur collegiate summer league (Northwoods) baseball team that uses Herr–Baker Field as its home. This experience will be invaluable to the pineapple pizza lover as he works to become a controller working for a professional sports team.

DR. W. ALAN DIXON, SR. Business Department Chair and Associate Professor

“The faculty and staff truly care about student success, and that makes a huge difference in our students’ lives. We are all dedicated to quality higher education, and we are especially dedicated to creating a community that promotes learning and social justice.”

1 EMMA COURNOYER The sophomore is thankful to have grown up watching her mom earn a bachelors and master’s degree, and she is excited to be following in her footsteps. Wanting a career in expressive and therapeutic arts, the honors student is working to attend graduate school and will take part of her educational journey overseas when she studies abroad in Italy this fall. She has a deep appreciation for Vincent van Gogh’s painting “Starry Night,” and make no mistake she is reaching for the stars.

ELORM AGBENYAThe sophomore speaks three languages, works three jobs, and is the youngest of three members of her family enrolled at Marian. Double majoring in industrial organizational psychology and social work, she draws inspiration from her older sisters Eyram and Edem and has her sights set on earning a masters and doctorate before working to climb the corporate ladder. For her, happiness comes in the form of having an active social life and curling up with a good book.

PATRICIA HERNANDEZAssistant Professor

“Marian to me means putting the students first and foremost above everything else, to ensure their success. The people and campus are accepting and open to people of all faiths, backgrounds, color, race, gender, sexuality, and abilities. They walk the talk.”
