Do You WAnt tobeCoMe A TO2015AthLete AMbASSADor?

Join the Make It happen program and start making a difference in your community today.

We are looking for active or retired senior national team members and/or Quest for gold recipients from ontario to join our team for the upcoming school year.

If you’re an athlete who lives outside ontario but are interested in participating, please contact us. As we grow the Make It happen program, we will be using technology to broaden our reach and will do our best to accommodate out-of-province athletes.

WHAT Is THE rOLE Of A TO2015 ATHLETE AMbAssADOr?• You will be linked with an ontario secondary

school for the academic year.

• As an athlete ambassador, your goal is toinspire character development and community involvement through your sport and lifeexperiences as an athlete.

• You will have the opportunity to meet with students twice per year in an intimate classroom setting to discuss healthy active living, global citizenship, overcoming obstacles and goal-setting.

• An honorarium will be provided for your participation;

WHAT ArE MYrEsPONsIbILITIEs?

• participate in a two-day motivational speaking training session held by Motivate Canada prior to participating in the Make It happen program.

• two in-person school visits arranged by the program coordinator over the academic year.

• build an on-going relationship with your designated school over the academic year using social media. For example:

> build and maintain school-specificFacebook page.

> Video sharing via Youtube or Skype.

> Create a student challenge—settinggoals and helping students track theirexperiences through social media.

> evaluate the program and your experiencesby completing an online survey.

About the TO2015 MAke It hAppen progrAMWHAT Is THE PrOgrAM’s MAIN ObjEcTIvE? provide a greater understanding of the

dedication, commitment and hard work

necessary to achieve goals, with a broader

understanding of personal character

development and healthier, active living.

WHO cAN gET INvOLvED? All secondary schools across Ontario.

WHAT sTuDENTs Is IT DEsIgNED fOr? Grade 9 and 10 students.

WHO ArE THE PrOgrAM’s ATHLETE AMbAssADOrs? Canadian national team members and

motivational speakers from all sports.

HOW DOEs THE PrOgrAM WOrK? each athlete ambassador is linked up with a

secondary school and visits at least twice

during the academic year.

HOW Is THE MAKE IT HAPPEN PrOgrAM DIffErENT? the athlete ambassador creates an online

community to keep in contact with students

throughout the year. through social media,

the athlete ambassador can pose goal-setting

challenges and inspire students to lead

positive, healthy lifestyles.

TO2015’s Make It Happen program is a great way to give our Canadian athletes the opportunity to use their experiences in sport to motivate and inspire the youth of today. We’ve created a program that inspires high school students to work hard and pursue their dreams, but also to hopefully create a legacy program that will live on past the Toronto 2015 Games.
