Make a Pretty Name Plaque

By Jan May

Girls love to make pretty things with their names to decorate their

bedrooms. This craft is good for the environment and a fun

slumber party idea, too!

God places vision and destiny in names. This is a great way to

share with your daughters the meaning of their names or any

special circumstances surrounding naming them.

Gather Your Materials

2 pieces of scrapbooking papers in coordinating colors- one

lighter color with print and one darker color solid

Plastic berry container lids-one for each letter in the name

Glue stick and liquid glue

Stick on alphabet letters

Ribbon-3 ft in a coordinating color-I choose one with a

pattern.

Craft jewels-butterfly, dragon fly, or flowers-one package

with around 3 jewels per letter

Cut and Measure

Cut off berry container lids, one for every letter in the name

you want to make. Set them aside. Then measure the flat indentation

on the top of the lid. You want to know the height and width.

Cut out one piece of cardstock with that measurement and trim off the

corners. (Mine is blue in the picture below) Use this as a pattern for

cutting out the other pieces of scrapbooking papers. Cut one piece for

every letter in the name. Set them aside.

Cut around the alphabet letters that you want to use in the name in a

square shape. Do not peel them off yet. Use the plastic around the

letter as guide tracing around it on the blue paper. Make enough blue

squares for all the letters in the name. Cut them out set them aside.

With a glue stick, glue the lighter colored background piece of

scrapbooking paper on the lid first then tilt the blue square like a

diamond and glue it on top of the background paper.

Decorate!

Peel off and stick the first letter of the name in the middle of the

blue diamond. Measure a small 2 inch piece of ribbon and glue it with

the liquid glue diagonally across the bottom left of the letter. Make

small bows and glue them on the bottom or corners. Glue on jewels

around the letters. Do this with all the letters making a decorated

plastic letter square for each letter in the name.

Connect the Letters Together

With a 7 inch piece of ribbon, attach each plastic letter square to the

next one to spell the name by threading the ribbon through a middle

hole; loop it around to the next letter connecting the two letters.

Overlap the ends and using liquid glue, stick them together. Then

staple where you glued for extra strength.

Make a hanger loop by threading the ribbon through the top hole of

the first and last letter, looping it around, and glue together then

staple. This will be for hanging it on the wall. Enjoy!
