But the wicked one forgot that he has persisted on his disobedienceand did not regret over it, and he objected the command of Allah,and was arrogant towards his Lord, Gloried is He, and followedthis way, so he was cursed and distanced from the mercy of Allah.

For Allah does not make for shaytan any authority over his servant,until the servant himself makes a way for him by obeying him andassociating him with Allah, Allah has said: Do you not see that Wehave sent the devils upon the disbelievers, inciting them to [evil] with

Shaytan has a specic goal to which he is striving, and that is toadmit all people in hellre and deprive them of paradise, andconcerning this Allah says,

in this path gradual progression (taking step-by-step), startingfrom calling the person to leave the best / more important deed forthat which is less important. Then he works to beautify small sinsand belittling them, and when a person commits small sins thenshaytan has the power to push him in the major sins, and when hecommits major sins, then he is close to disbelief, and we seekprotection with Allah.

And in the hadith of the Prophet (saw), that Allah said: I createdMy servants hunafaa , and the devils came to them and turned themaway from their religion, and forbade for them what I made lawfulfor them, and commanded them to associate with Me what I have

not revealed any authority for.

reaches this, then he should seek refuge with Allah and stop.

Abdullah (ra) from the Prophet (saw),who said: Indeed shaytan sits for the son of Adam in his ways, andhe sits for him on the way of Islam, so he says: You will acceptIslam and leave your religion and the religion of your fathers andfore-fathers? So he disobeys him and accepts Islam. Then he sits for

him in the path of hijrah so he says: you will migrate? and leaveyour land and your sky? So he disobeys him and migrates. Once when we werepresent with him, a young girl came as if she was being pushed, soshe went on to put her hand in the food and the Prophet (saw) tookher hand (meaning, restrained it). Then came a bedouin as if he wasbeing pushed, and the Prophet (saw) held his hand. The Prophet(saw) said: Shaytan tries to make lawful for himself the food uponwhich the name of Allah is not mentioned, and indeed he broughtthis young girl to make it permissible through her so I held herhand, then he came with this bedouin to make it permissible, so Iheld his hand. By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, the hand ofshaytan is in my hand with her hand.

He complained of his great need andof too many dependents, so I took pity on him and set him free.'Allah's Messenger (saw) said, `Verily, he told you a lie; he willreturn.' I waited for him attentively for the third time, and when he(came and) started stealing handfuls of the foodstuff, I caught holdof him and said, Ì will surely take you to Allah's Messenger (saw)as it is the third time you promised not to return, yet you returned.'He said, `Let me teach you some words which Allah will give youbenet from.' I asked, `What are they' He replied, `Whenever yougo to bed, recite Ayat Al-Kursi- Allahu la ilaha illa Huwal-Hayyul-Qayyum , till you nish the whole verse. (If you do so), Allah willappoint a guard for you who will stay with you, and no Shaytanwill come near you until morning.' So, I released him.
