2ND SUNDAY OF ADVENT

PRAY FOR SYRIA Almighty and ever-living God, you sent your Spirit upon the Apostles to help them found your Church in the midst of persecution. We ask that you keep your Spirit, in a spe-cial way, with the Patriarchs of Syria who today fight to maintain your Church. We pray for the comfort of the loved ones of those who have been thrust upon the martyr’s throne, that they may no longer despair, but rejoice in the saving power of the Cross. Just as you softened the heart of the Persian king to free your people, soften the hearts of those today who seek the destruction of the faithful. We ask also that you send your Spirit upon us so that we may be faithful instruments of your peace. We ask this all through Christ our Lord. Amen. SPC (Solidarity with the Persecuted Church)
