StimulusLucyThe main motive behind our idea came from 'Lucy' which is a film about a woman who gains psychokinetic abilities when a nootropic drug is absorbed into her bloodstream; although our idea differs immensely from the film itself we have taken great inspiration from certain camera shots/angles/movement that the film comprises of. Additionally, the way in which Lucy is able to view the world after absorbing the drug has acted as a huge inspiration when looking at the way in which our main actor will view the world around her post drug absorption,Drugs& their effectsAdditionally, when searching for sources of inspiration online we stumbled across a news story that incorporated the image shown above- a pill between someone's lips. This then sparked the idea of a drug related theme which in turn lead us onto the effects drugs can have on you both mentally, physically and emotionally- thus causing utter confusion and deterioration.

Character Profiles

ALICEUsed as a test subjectBefore she is injected with drugs: Average young girl After drugs are absorbed into her system she becomes crazy. The effects of the drugs are: twitching, paranoia, and impotence

Corporation leadermysterious and hidden identity Power and authority Dark clothing to connote enigma and evil character traits

5

INITIAL costume/makeup ideasAlice

Corporation leader

plain white T-shirt like 'Lucy'causal black skinny jeans

white converse; connotes purity

The corporation leader will be wearing smart attire to connote feelings of power and authority-this contrasts well with Alice's casual, toned down look as it highlights her vulnerability more

initial costume/makeup ideas

Scientists

Typical laboratory attire to convey medical atmopshereAlice's makeup

Heavily smudged eye makeup to connote feelings of distress/lack of control

Possible cuts/scratches to her face to show an element of ill treatment and the fact that she has been handled roughly

7

Mise en Scene SettingThe main setting for our film will be in an isolated dark room where the main character, Alice finds her self, unaware of where she is and why she is there. In a flashback Alice will vaguely remember what happened and where she was last night, which is a nightclub. Props

Lighting and ColourThe lighting of the scenes will mainly be low-key to keep the identity of the 'corporation leader' hidden which creates an enigma. however there will also be use of high-key lighting to enable the audience to see Alice's facial expressions and body language. The use of colours will be cool, blue tones as well as grey washed out tones. The result of blue tones is a cold and dejected mood which works well with scenes of abandoned and isolated shots.

EditingFade to blackEffective bridging technique between two scenes, or to add a darker tone.Match on actionAn editing technique for continuity editing. One shot cuts to another shot during movement or action, this creates a fluid transition between the two shots.Foreground wipeAn edit motivated by a foreground object wiping the frame.Look offA cut from a character to what they see.Thought referentA cut showing what a character is thinking Audio LinkageAudio is carried over between scenes to act as a transition.Loud SoundWhere a cut is made in the middle of a loud sound.

CameraworkCanted shotsUsed to suggest the psychological imbalance of the main character / the narrative.

Cut-inA sudden close up of an object, this shot will look effective to use to stress the significance of an object.

We would apply this type of shot on a pill dissolving or perhaps an injection.

Establishing shotThis essential shot establishes the location of the narrative. We must use this type of shot within the opening 2 minutes to establish the location of our narrative to the audience.High angleMakes the character look vulnerable
