POSTEUROP ON THE ENVIRONMENT

Electric Vehicle Fleets

“PostEurop understands that, through the very nature of its day-to-day activities, the

postal sector has an impact on the environment, mostly in the form of greenhouse

gas emissions.

As a vital sector of the European economy, the postal sector is committed to reducing

CO2 emissions within the communities it serves, through working together and

closely with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders.”

The Green Post Project

11/20

•Description: Postal agencies (supported by local universities) in four Member States tested alternative vehicles (electric and hybrid) for their mail delivery services.

•Output: test results, impact environmental assessments, economic analysis, management and maintenance training protocols.

• Goal: improve energy efficiency and reduce air pollution within a cost effective investment.

•Expected results: share best practices and lessons learned to stimulate the replication of similar initiatives.

Green Post is granted funds from European Commission/EACI under the Intelligent Energy Europe program.
