After the formal welcome to all, I take this opportunity in my welcome address to share my views and concepts on balancing college and university education through the medium of ‘Sport for Development’

Page 8: Maidan Summit 2011 - Devinder Kumar Kansal, University of Delhi

Goal of Presentation To make our general education balanced

By representing all domains of education throughS4D

and by implementing eight basic concepts of Sports for

Human Development & Better Balanced Education

Page 9: Maidan Summit 2011 - Devinder Kumar Kansal, University of Delhi

Concept - 1 : Sports– As

Foundation or the Roots of All

Education

Sports are roots and backbone of all education,

wholistic personality development and Global human

resourse development

Page 10: Maidan Summit 2011 - Devinder Kumar Kansal, University of Delhi

Concept - 2 :

Sports- yet to be Imbedded in

Education

Sports are yet to be fully imbedded

with general education system just like

a language being taught universally to

all students with its theoretical and

practical knowledge.

Page 11: Maidan Summit 2011 - Devinder Kumar Kansal, University of Delhi

Concept - 3 : Relation between

SPORTS & Development

Sports, Nutrition, Human Development and

performance are directly and significantly

related to each other,

But optimal emphasis is yet to be focused

on SPORTS as the roots of development

and social peace.

Page 12: Maidan Summit 2011 - Devinder Kumar Kansal, University of Delhi

Concept - 4 :

SPORTS for Human

Environment

The Environment paper being introduced on

the behest of Supreme Court of India

should also include human internal and

external environments for wholistic

personality development.

Page 13: Maidan Summit 2011 - Devinder Kumar Kansal, University of Delhi

Concept - 5 :

Oxygen is Internal

Environment

The internal human environment is

maintained mainly by oxygen provided

through physical activity and sports which

needs to be thoroughly told to all for

making adequate exercises to make O2

available to all cells of the body.

Page 14: Maidan Summit 2011 - Devinder Kumar Kansal, University of Delhi

Concept – 6 :

SPORTS as External

Environment

The external human environment is

greatly affected by social interaction

promoted through sports

and the sports infrastructure creation to

reduce inactivity pollution which has

become a pandemic phenomenon in

modern world.

Page 15: Maidan Summit 2011 - Devinder Kumar Kansal, University of Delhi

Concept – 7 :

Teaching Modern Food

Pyramid

The teaching of food pyramid should also

include oxygen as a nutrient obtained

through physical activity & outdoor sports

of three categories – namely, Cardio-

respiratory, Weight (Muscular) and

Flexibility (Stretching) exercises.

Page 16: Maidan Summit 2011 - Devinder Kumar Kansal, University of Delhi
