INTRODUCTION

1. Geographical Location:

- Mai Chau is a mountainous province of Hoa Binh

- Mai Chau is the westernmost district of Hoa Binh, the

northern provinces of Son La, the southern province of Thanh

Hoa, the northern district bordering Da Bac, east district Tan

Lac .

- Mai Chau is 150km to the north-west from Hanoi

Lac Village

- Home to White Thai- 25 stilt houses for

Pom Coọng Village

Chiều Cave

• In the South-west of Mai Chau

• In Pù Khà limestone mountain

• 1200 steps from the foot of mountain to the cave

Weather in Mai Chau The weather in Mai Chau changes a lot so you have to make sure that you prepare enough clothes.

The average temperature

Mai Chau is much drier than other cities in the North of Vietnam. The average temperature of Mai Chau is from 15 degrees to 30 degrees.

Some factsThe weather might be very cold when winter comes, from November to February. ( Bring at least 1 jacket )

• The best weather in Mai Chau is from May to August, which is warm and nice.

It’s usually windy from June to September.

But after that, the weather will be much calmer!

FESTIVALS

XEN BAN

• Xen Ban is Thai’s popular festival in Mai Chau, especially in Mai Thuong, Mai Chau area.

• This festival is a ceremory worship.

• This ceremory is held by Cha Ban in August in Lunar calendar every year.

• Xen Ban is held in only one day.• The Thai people hold this festival because they

want to pray for their families, the good weather all around year, their crops.
