In the heart of Magnolia’s gardens, this historic and elegant location defines quintes-
sential Charleston and is the premier backdrop for any southern event. Offering expansive
views of grand live oaks and manicured gardens, this site is rich with history and tradition.
The Plantation House porch, over 20 feet wide, fully surrounds the home and offers 360
degree views of the surrounding gardens. Just a short stroll down a garden pathway, with
views of Magnolia’s signature white bridge, the Long White Bridge Lawn is the perfect site
for you to exchange your vows. The porch will comfortably seat 150 guests for dinner with
buffet or stations. The back lawn can be tented to accommodate parties of 100-250.

Dating back to 1840, the Carriage House overlooks the Ashley River and is surrounded by
ancient live oaks, beautifully draped Spanish moss and sweeping lawns. At night, burning torches line
the banks of the river while the fire pit on the patio sets a romantic mood. Inside, the wrought iron
chandeliers hanging from exposed beams provide the perfect glowing light to set the ambiance for
your wedding. The Carriage House can accommodate 150 guests seated with dancing and up to 200
guests with dancing outside on the patio.

VENUE & FACILITY
Q: How much time is allowed for setup and cleanup?
Setup can begin at the Carriage House at 11:00am. Because the Veranda and Conservatory are extremely public
areas of the property for general tourists, setup can begin no earlier than 3:30pm at these venues. Amplified
music must be turned off by 11:30pm and guest departure by 12:00am. Vendors can remain on property past
12:00am for breakdown and cleanup.
Q: WHERE CAN WE TAKE PHOTOS ON THE PLANTATION?
You are welcome to take photos anywhere across the property and the 66 acres of gardens, with the exception
of inside the Plantation House and the grounds surrounding the slave cabins. If there is another event on the
same evening as your wedding, you will not have access to their ceremony or reception location.
Please note, the ceremony location for the Veranda is the Long White Bridge Lawn. Carriage House or
Conservatory couples will not be able to access the Long White Bridge if there is a Veranda wedding the same
evening.
Q: What is the timing for a ceremony rehearsal?
A one-hour ceremony rehearsal can be hosted the day prior to your wedding. All rehearsal times are subject to
availability of the venue and must be pre-scheduled with the events office. Event staff will be present but do
not assist in wedding coordination.
Q: Do you allow decorations?
Yes! We welcome decorations such as flowers, candles and lighting. If you choose to use candles, we require
that they are enclosed in glass containers to prevent damage to our surfaces and your linens.
We do not allow anything to be applied to the walls or building that will cause damage (nails, tacks, staples, etc.)
Doing so will put your damage deposit at risk.
Q: Can we use sparklers or wish lanterns in our departure?
We welcome sparklers but ask that you properly extinguish them in a metal container with sand. Sparklers must
also be used completely away from the building.
Due to the historic nature of the gardens, we do not allow wish lanterns or fireworks on the property.
EVENT SERVICES
Q: CAN YOU RECOMMEND ANY LOCAL VENDORS?
There is a tremendous amount of local talent and vendors that we love working with in the Charleston area.
Please contact us for our preferred list of professionals.
Q: ARE TABLES AND CHAIRS AVAILABLE AT THE VENUE?
The Conservatory comes with 13 teak tables and seating for up to 75 guests for the reception. Additional tables
for a bar, buffet, food stations, etc. will need to be rented in addition to ceremony chairs.
For weddings at the Carriage House and Veranda, all tables, chairs, and décor are rented through an outside
event rental company and brought in for your event. Magnolia Plantation does not supply any rental items with
the site fee at these locations.
Q: ARE TENTS INCLUDED IN YOUR PRICING?
No. If you would like to rent a tent and the associated accessories please contact Snyder Rentals, Event Works
or EventHaus. Please reference the preferred list of professionals.
Q: DO YOU PROVIDE DAY-OF COORDINATION?
We do not. We highly recommend hiring a planner, whether day-of or full-service, particularly if you are from
out-of-town. Please reference the list of our preferred professionals for recommendations.
FOOD & BEVERAGE
Q: DO YOU PROVIDE CATERING SERVICES?
Magnolia Plantation does not provide on-site catering. Charleston is filled with seasoned catering professionals
with a depth of experience. We do require your caterer to be pre-approved by the events office.
All catering companies listed on our Preferred Professionals sheet have already been approved with glowing
recommendations.
We do not allow food trucks or private chefs to act as the caterer for your event.
Q: MAY WE PROVIDE OUR OWN ALCOHOL?
If working through your catering company or a professional bar service, they have the professional licensing
and liability coverage to serve beer, wine, liquor and champagne.
You may provide beer, wine and champagne (no hard liquor), as long as you have certified and insured
bartenders to serve the alcohol. You must also purchase liability insurance in the amount of $1 Million in
coverage when supplying the alcohol yourself. This can be purchased online through www.wedsafe.com.
CONTRACT & PAYMENTS
Q: HOW DO I SECURE MY DATE?
Please note, we do not hold dates on a tentative basis.
To reserve a date and venue at Magnolia, we require a $1,000 deposit and signed contract.
Q: WHAT IS THE PAYMENT SCHEDULE?
An initial payment of $1,000 is due upon signing the contract. The second payment in the amount of 30% of
the remaining balance is due one month after the initial payment. The final payment will be due 30 days prior
to your event.
Q: WHAT IS THE DAMAGE DEPOSIT FOR?
A $500 damage security deposit is required with the signed contract. This is to cover potential damage by setup
or your guests. The deposit will be refunded within 30-days of your event if the property is vacated without
damages and provided our clean up guidelines are followed. If any damages have occurred you will be notified
