The main component is iron oxide.Ferrite magnets are used in various type of goods and products such as automotive motors, audio speakers, etc.

Samarium cobalt magnets and Neodymium magnets. High magnetic flux density and coercive force makes these types well suited for applications which require a small, flat size.

Iron alloyed with aluminum, nickel, and cobalt. Elongated shape, this type is commonly used in meters and communication equipment which demand precision.

Magnet Types and CharacteristicsReference

Low cost, corrosion-resistant, does not rust and very little degradation of the magnetic force

Fragile. High set up costs make this type ill-suited for custom designs in low volume.

Thermal demagnetization is large. Magnetic force is greatly reduced at temperatures above 100℃, and magnetic force is halved in an environment of 200℃.

Anisotropic: Has preferred direction of magnetization with large magnetic field strength.

Isotropic: Can be magnetized in any direction. Isotropic magnets have weaker magnetic field strength.
