The Global Ecology House provides students with the knowledge and understanding of the scientific, cultural, social, political, economic, and technological conditions that affect the quality of life on our planet. The program involves an interdisciplinary approach to the study of environmental issues with major emphasis on science and social studies. This field-based program offers students a monthly opportunity for hands-on field experiences. The integrated curriculum provides students with an opportunity to explore a wide range of environmental issues and potential solutions. The Global House networks extensively with local, state, national and international communities to further enhance students' growth and awareness. Students are challenged to develop a global ecological perspective as they investigate historical and current issues related to the earth's natural resources.

Students in the Humanities House examine the fullness of human experience: the way human beings live, the way they connect and relate to each other, the way they express their experiences in story-telling and art. Teachers in the Humanities House challenge their students to become independent thinkers which means learning effective ways to ask good questions, gather evidence, think systematically, and express original ideas. Over the course of four years, Humanities students become skilled in research, critical thinking, analysis, argumentation, and communication through oral, written, and visual media. They engage in a rigorous study of literature, history, art, geography, government and politics, media arts, rhetoric, and composition, frequently making interdisciplinary connections among the subjects.

The Science, Mathematics, Computer Science students have the opportunity to specialize in a rigorous mathematics and science program focused on problem-solving skills and research. The program is located in Poolesville High School to help promote high-quality, integrated education and to enhance learning opportunities for highly able students from the upper county area. This program offers the opportunity for students to build an extraordinary foundation in all subject areas, better understand their interrelationships, and participate in unique research opportunities.
