The coils in the sensor generate

a consistent magnetic field. The liquid flowing through the

    sensor induces a voltage propor-

    tional to the flow velocity.

MAG 1100The flangeless wafer design thatmeets all flange standards. TheMAG 1100 is used in all industrieswhere the corrosion-resistant stain-less steel housing and the highlyresistant liner and electrodes fiteven the most extreme processmedia.

MAG 1100 FOODEspecially designed for the food& beverage and pharmaceuticalindustry, it offers unique and flex-ible process connections. It was the

first to pass the EHEDG hygienictest and meets all sanitary stand-ards. Its performance is unaffectedby suspended solids, viscosity andtemperature challenges.

MAG 5100 WATERA sensor for all water and waste-water applications. With its coneddesign, increased low-flow accura-cy is achieved, making it especiallyuseful for leak detection. It can bemade suitable for direct burial andconstant flooding. MAG 5100 Wcomplies with drinking water andcustody transfer approvals.

Thanks to its pulsed alternatingfield system, the TRANSMAG 2 iscapable of measuring where con-ventional DC field technology cannot, like in applications involving:

High concentrated pulp stock Heavy mining slurries Mining slurries with magnetic

    particals

    The alternating field technology

generates a much stronger mag-netic field within the sensor com-pared to DC technology. This is whyit measures more reliably and with

greater precision even when themedia has a high concentration ofsolids.

Thanks to its patented signal inte-gration, the TRANSMAG 2 providesonly the real flow measurementby removing unwanted electrodenoise from the sensors signal. With the pulsed AC technology, its possible to have a stable zero-point, thereby a reliable and accu-rate measurement.

    Flow Simulation Test

    Cross-Talk Test

    Boost Test

Through in-depth analysis, Siemens has identified the parameters whichinfluence the accuracy of a flowmeter operating in the real world.

These parameters are checked using a unique, patented verification techniquefor MAGFLO Mag 5000 and 6000 flowmeters. Testing at WRc proved theaccuracy of the verification result for a complete flowmeter.

WRc, Water Research Centre is a leading, independent research, technology and

consultancy company with a reputation for scientific and technical excellence.

WRc has over 15 years of experience in instrument testing and evaluation. WRcs full

report, UC3600 March 2000, is available for inspection.

Transmitter TestThe transmitter test is a flow simu-lation test that checks the wholeelectronic system from signal inputto output. Using the magnetic fieldenergy, the Verificator simulates aflow signal to the transmitter input.

By measuring the transmitter out-put, the Verificator calculates itsaccuracy against factory definedvalues.

Flowmete r Insulation TestThe verification test of the flow-meter insulation is a "cross-talk"test of the entire flowmeter. Itensures that the sensor flow signalis unaffected by external influ-ences.

In this test, the Verificator gener-ates a high voltage disturbancewithin the coil circuit and thenlooks for any "cross-talk" induced inthe flow signal circuit. By generat-ing dynamic disturbances close

to the flow signal the flowmeteris tested for noise immunity to amaximum level.

Sensor Magne tism TestThe verification of the sensor mag-netism is a "boost" test of the mag-

netic field coil. It ensures that themagnetism behaviour compares toits original behavior by comparingthe current sensor magnetism withthe "fingerprint" determined duringinitial calibration and stored in theSENSORPROM.

In the "Boost" test the Verificatorchanges the magnetic field patternand uses high voltage to get quickstable magnetic condition.
