Hardware Connections

1. Connect the serial data connection to the

Data Connection port (labeled: POS

Terminal).

2. If the optional pole display is present,

connect it into the Pole Display port

(labeled: Remote Display).

3. Connect the power cord into the power

connection (labeled: Power).

4. Plug the other end of that cable into a

power source.

5. Plug the other end of the serial data cable

into an available serial port on your

computer.

Magellan Programming

Scan the following barcodes in order to program the device.

Note: This programming method will make the Magellan emulate a Metrologic 2020

scanner/scale.

After making any of the following changes to the scale you will need to contact Weights and

Measures to make sure the scale is certified and weighing items properly.

When this barcode is scanned the green light on the top

of the scanner/scale will start flashing – This will make

the scale enter the programming mode.

MGL 22/23/81/82/85/9500

When this barcode is scanned there will be an audible

Double Beep from the scanner/scale, confirming that it

scanned correctly.

MGL 83/8400

When this barcode is scanned there will be an audible

Double Beep from the scanner/scale, confirming that it

scanned correctly.

When this barcode is scanned the scanner will reboot and

the green lights on the top of the scanner/scale will stop

flashing – This will make the scale exit the programming

mode.

1, under Weight Scale Primary:

3. Select the COM port that the

scanner/scale is connected to. Many

systems have labels on the ports that

contain this information. If yours does

not, select COM 1. You may need to

select other COM ports later if CRE does

not find the scale.

Enter the optional tare amount.

4. Select Metrologic MS2020 for “Primary

Scale Type”.
