The Pitch The name of my magazine is something that took time to decide on, I had two options that I thought would be a good title. The two options were either “STAGE&SPEAKER” or simply “SPEAKER”, I decided to go with the first title “STAGE&SPEAKER” as I thought its more of a direct related title to a music

magazine. I experimented with both on Photoshop however to decide for definite which one would look better on a page layout. The music genre of my magazine is acoustic/ indie music as I think it’s a very current style of music that me

and lots of other people my age like. The cover price of my magazine will be £3.00 per monthly subscription of my magazine. I decided this price and frequency of publication because on my audience survey results a large percentage said they would spend this

amount and would prefer a monthly subscription. The magazine style will have a spacious, clean cut layout with a

minimalistic colour scheme and lots of good quality images throughout. The context within the magazine wont be a huge amount so that there are huge pages on block text but I will make the context relevant to what my target audience are most interested in such as new releases and upcoming events.

SURVEY READER PROFILEThe reader profile of my magazine

based on the results of my questionnaires and surveys is that

there is a large percentage that would be female between the ages of 16-19

year olds.

They’re most likely to buy a acoustic genre, monthly subscribed magazine

costing around £0- £5. There are most interested in new

releases of bands and artists such as Ben Howard or green day.

There preferred layout of magazines is spacious with a neutral colour scheme and lots of images with not a lot of text, therefore these factors I will use to relate my music magazine to there opinions and interests.

From questionnaire results:The reader profile I gathered from my

questionnaires are that they all use social media platforms such as Facebook, instagram, snapchat, Tumblr and Twitter. This therefore means that

magazines advertisement would be very successful if they used social media as a large majority of

the target audience will use it. The majority of the people I interviewed

described their friends as been funny, nice and caring however when asked how they would describe themselves they weren't as confident answering the

question. This could suggest that with the majority target audience being young females it would be good to use language or articles that

would make them feel confident or advertise events that a lot of people like them would go to and

inspire them. I could do this by writing an article that portrays an iconic young women that would inspire the young girls reading the magazine.

QUESTIONAIRE READER PROFILE

Page 8: Magazine plan

QUESTIONAIRE READER PROFILE

The majority said they trust brands such as apple or clothing brands like Top shop or urban outfitters which are all very fashionable in current trends and are valued

brands within young people. Therefore in my magazine to address my target audiences trusted brands I could use models dressed in the current stylish trends topshop and urban outfitters display

in their stores and social media. They also said that in there spend time or when they go out they like going to cities shopping or for meals and coffee, I could use this and make my magazine include a very urbanized city lifestyle theme with events based in Leeds or Manchester where people like to go for a day out in the magazines distributed

areas. It could feature events or new exciting places that would attract a younger audience within their interests that are easy to get too.

With all this information I can include and try and interpret their interests and trend in my magazine.

SAMPLE DUMMY ONE

This was my first attempt at designing a page layout for my magazine, out of all the ones I experimented with I likes this one the best because its very simplistic and sophisticated.

Page 17: Magazine plan

SAMPLE DUMMY TWO

This was my second attempt and I wanted to see if how a less concise layout would look. I also quite likes this layout but not as much as my first attempt

because I would prefer to have larger photographs and less text.

Page 18: Magazine plan

SAMPLE DUMMY THREE

This was my last attempt and least favourite. I dislike it because it doesn't’t a logical order and to me looks un sophisticated and not thought out as well as

the previous attempts.

Page 19: Magazine plan

PHOTO PLANNINGI prefer the appearance of this font, this is because this font is more current and in a more modern style in comparison to

the other. I’ve also experimented with different colours of the banner and what

looks best. I prefer this type of text to the previous because It looks more modern.

Page 20: Magazine plan

PHOTO PLANNINGI did this on Photoshop as a trail of the kind of minimal appearance I want my

magazine to have and the type of photograph I want to have on the cover.

I wanted to see what a banner would look like and different colours I could

use.

Page 21: Magazine plan

PHOTO PLANNINGI wanted to see if it would look better

without a border as most magazines don’t have white borders. I do prefer this image without a border because as the picture is

dark already I thought that they white border didn’t have a nice contrast with

the colours in the photo.

Page 22: Magazine plan

PHOTO PLANNINGI tried different banners and different ways of presenting the cover and how the text and photograph interact with

each other on Photoshop. For this photo I like the cover without a banner as I

think it looked nice for a minimal look.

Page 23: Magazine plan

PHOTO PLANNINGI wanted to experiment with different way of presenting the title to see which looked best out of the previous design and this

one. I really like this design with and without the banner however think that the banner looks strange unless the image was

taking up the whole page.

Page 24: Magazine plan

PHOTO PLANNINGI experimented with the photograph not having a border however found that it was difficult to make the title stand out

with this sort of image because the subject is a large part of the shot and makes it difficult to fit the large title at

the top.

Page 25: Magazine plan

TRAIL FRONT COVER

This is my trail front cover I designed on Photoshop using a image of the internet of a musician

called Lucy Rose. I really like this style of magazine and wanted to see how it would appear with the sort of colour schemes I want to include in my magazine. I wanted to get a feel for what I could improve and what sort of photography I want to take so that when I’m shooting I know exactly

what outcome I want.

Page 26: Magazine plan

TRAIL CONTENTS PAGE

After doing this content page I have realised that I’m not as keen on the

layout as what I thought at first. I think that it looks

too plain and simple.I have also decided that I’m going to vary my text on the contents page and use more of the fonts from my style

font sheet.
