All through the year, if we are fortunate, we will have the opportunity to be part of different types of celebrations. A child’s birthday, an anniversary, a graduation, a business success, a personal achievement, or perhaps watching your favorite sports team win the title. But CELEBRATIONS take on a special meaning this time of year. When we celebrate Thanksgiving with our family and friends, it reassures us with feelings of togetherness, comfort and caring. During the December holiday time, countless numbers of children and grandchildren descend on Hunters Run, as many members use this joyful occasion to take part in our special activities and social gatherings. A different type of occasion took place a few weeks ago, during a three-day celebration of the 50th anniversary of Woodstock. You will find articles and photos, as members participated in this singular event—including several who were there 50 years ago! As 2019 comes to an end and we prepare for the new year, our 2020 vision predicts many more celebrations in the future! — Stan Walker

Hunters Run Country Club NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2019 3

Dear Members,Hunters Run’s new fiscal year starts on November 1st and what a year it has been! We have completed a massive breathtaking renovation of the pool / atrium areas as well as the North golf course. For added good measure we provided a state of the art new golf short game practice area, MW’s Terrace (to meet the demand for more outdoor dining) and a completely remodeled Il Cacciatore. All have been met with resounding plaudits from the membership and guests. These dramatic enhancements have also been a magnet for new members and real estate sales. How do we know that to be accurate? Well, this year, as of the writing of this column, there have been 118 living units sold, of which 82 were acquired by new members and 36 second equity purchases by existing members. There are currently 12 more units expected to close before the new year begins and 9 are new members. At this time last year there were 82 sales with but 58 new members and by year’s end, 91 total sales and 66 new members. All told that means we anticipate 130 sales with 91 new members this year. That means we achieved a 43% increase in sales over last year and a 38% increase in new members. Reviewing sales figures for the past five years shows this year we have had the greatest number of living unit sales. So why should there be any concern about Hunters Run’s future given the incredible increase in real estate sales? The answer is that to have continued success in sales and new membership, we cannot rest on our laurels. We need to continue to make our surroundings even more exceptional and appealing.  The competition for new members is fierce in South Florida and especially in Palm Beach County. As an example, a club in our area this fall will complete an $18.1 million expansion and renovation of its public space which was already very modern and attractive. Other clubs are likewise building new additions to entice new members and satisfy present ones.Hunters Run has the premier tennis and pickleball program in our area and some new members have confided in me that it was the tennis program that was the decisive factor in buying a residence here. We have a large avid group of tennis players here and they deserve a new tennis facility. Our present tennis building, due to its age and appearance, is inconsistent with the rest of the amenities here and a new building is essential. Our main entrance, which provides people a less than stellar first impression of Hunters Run, requires a dramatic replacement which must include the guardhouse as well. The entrance   attracts people who pass by and the guardhouse provides security, which we all desire and needs to be updated and upgraded not just for aesthetics but functionality.Plans are underway for these two projects and will be presented to the Board and the community in the near future for consideration and evaluation. If approved by the Board, a membership vote is then mandated to commence construction. We have achieved an enthusiastic positive momentum and if we want to keep it moving forward there is no alternative but to commence and complete these much needed enhancements.  A successful and thriving future for Hunters Run depends on it.Best regards,

Jack GornyPresident

iMembers Share Their Memories of Being at Woodstock in 1969

The Woodstock Festival of 1969 was the crown jewel of the “counterculture generation.” Having grown up in the turmoil of the 60’s - assassinations of John Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, Martin Luther King along with Vietnam War protests, the disenfranchised youth of the 60’s dreamed of a different future. It was a concert looking for compassion, love, and unity.

The concert was planned to occur in Woodstock, NY, hence the name, but was moved to Max Yasgur’s dairy farm in Bethel, NY, 43 miles away because of permitting issues. The promoters only had one month to prepare the farm for the Festival. It was estimated that 150,000 people would attend – almost 500,000 showed up, most without tickets. The organizers were not prepared for such an influx. There was not nearly enough food or water on hand. Sanitary facilities were inadequate for a crowd that size. The stage was barely completed in time. Performers had to be helicoptered in because the road had become a parking lot of abandoned vehicles.

Tickets were $18.00. There were not enough ticket sellers or collectors. The fence around the property came down due to the crush of humanity. At that point, the Festival was declared “free.” Only those who had prepaid for tickets contributed to the cost of the Festival. It took the organizers over ten years to recoup their losses through various recording and film deals.

The weather did not cooperate, with rain on and off for three days, resulting in slippery mud everywhere. It was difficult to sleep because bands were playing 24 hours a day. When bands were not playing, there were announcements over the PA system, which acted as a bulletin board for friends to find one another or direct them to an area of the farm.

Despite the chaos, everyone I spoke with lit up when reminiscing about their time at the Festival. They spoke of incredible music, a friendly and mellow atmosphere and the generosity of the townspeople.

Maybe you’ve seen documentaries or listened to live recordings, but what was it like to actually have been there? Some of our friends and neighbors here at Hunters Run were there or almost there. Here are some of their memories.

JOAN WHITE

All the locals were involved in the Festival. Joan White was living in Monticello where her family lived near the Concord Hotel. Joan, along with many other area mothers, stayed on the periphery to help kids who were not feeling very well. Although her son, 15-year-old Richard, was not allowed to go to the Festival, he attended every day. He had no difficulty going the short distance with friends who had local license plates. Cars with out-of-the-area plates were turned away. Many locals were setting up food stands where Richard would work in the mornings. In the afternoons, he would find a spot and enjoy the party. The Concord was constantly sending over food for sandwiches.

ILANA and ED SLAWITSKY

Ed and Ilana did not meet until many years later. Both loved the three-day party. Ilana commented on the camaraderie and friendliness of the crowd and the fabulous music. By the time she exited, she was covered in mud. A local couple on the street hosed her down.

i LESLIE and JIM CEITLAN

At the time, Leslie and Jim were married with a two-year-old and one more on the way. They had a vacation home right off the main street in Bethel. On Wednesday (the concert did not start until Friday), the police chief who lived across the street from Leslie and Jim realized that he needed help. Jim became Deputy Sheriff for the weekend in order to try to control the crowds. Although they could hear the music, Leslie and Jim were too busy running a soup kitchen from the house and hosing down muddy Festival goers to pay much attention to it. Despite their hungry and muddy condition, they found the crowd to be “…peaceful and respectful.”

Leslie shot eight rolls of 8mm film of the events. She mailed them in several envelopes to be processed. They were never returned!

BOB LAYTON

Even after all these years, whenever Bob and his Woodstock friends get together,

they happily revisit the Festival. For him, Woodstock was a culmination of the events of the 60’s - anti-war movement, peace movement, civil rights. Woodstock was designed to bring people together peacefully. Bob attended several music Festivals that summer. Woodstock was by the far the largest.

SANDI and ARNIE ZOMICK

Sandi and Arnie were both there but didn’t meet until many years later. As Arnie drove from the nearby Brown’s resort where he was working, “there were cars parked as far as the eye could see." Despite the rain on the first night, he was very excited about seeing Richie Havens, Ravi Shankar and Janis Joplin. He described the crowd as “very enthusiastic …peaceful…easy feeling…respectful

of one another.” He recalls walking along the grounds and seeing a group of flower children bathing in a lake in the nude.

Sandi ordered tickets beforehand and drove up on Saturday. She parked by a lake and saw the skinny-dippers. She remembers when Sly and The Family Stone began singing "Higher and Higher"; everyone stood and raised their arms to the sky.

Sandi and Arnie met several years later. They both were enthusiastic when talking about their Woodstock memories.

DENNIS KEEHN

That summer, Dennis was a dishwasher at a camp that just happened to share a border on the back side of Yasgur’s farm. He walked over every day for the festivities. For an eighteen year old, all the partying was a real eye-opener. The performances turned him onto Rock ‘n Roll.

ROGER ROISMAN

“Drove from Philly and abandoned our car in the mud, and had it picked-up a week later. Loved every minute—at least all I can remember.”

HAROLD DIAMOND

Played “slip and slide” in the mud. Let the rain wash him off.

ALMOST THERE: BARBARA and FRED DeRUBEIS

Fred and Barbara met long after Woodstock yet have remarkably similar stories. Fred wrote: “My friend and I bought tickets in advance …We packed a cooler with all the essentials--soda, beer, Italian sandwiches and money. We were ready! Traffic was so backed up we had to abandon our car on Route 17 and we walked for hours towards the concert. We ate all our sandwiches and drank all our beverages on the journey. It started to rain, and the people walking in the opposite direction told us there was no food, no water, nowhere to stay. It was a mess! Go back! We could hear the music in the distance…We turned around…Because of the traffic jam, we were forced to sleep in our car overnight, starving and dehydrated."

Barbara wrote: “…Took off with my boyfriend (not her future husband) on the second day, in a convertible with no supplies. We went to the town of Woodstock, NY, and wondered where everyone was. It was such a ghost town! Then we heard on the radio that the Festival had been moved, that there was no water, food, lots of mud and traffic was totally backed up. Spent a fabulous day in Woodstock, NY, with hippies like us and loved it. No Festival, no regrets.”

To commemorate this historic happening, the town of Bethel has created The Bethel Woods Center for the Arts on the original site – a venue for summer concerts similar to Tanglewood. The Museum at Bethel Woods is also on the property with many artifacts of the 60’s and the Festival. Sandi and Arnie Zomick are among recent visitors who signed the alumni book – to officially register their names as Woodstock 1969 Festival attendees.

6 NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2019 Hunters Run Country Club

Pat Masone had a dream: Hunters Run would celebrate the 50th anniversary of Man Walking on the Moon, The Beatles’ last album and, of course, WOODSTOCK.Pat’s heart and hand has always been in the music world. In the 1970s and 80s, Pat was a road manager and agent to iconic bands, including Blue Oyster Cult, The Ramones, Deep Purple, Arrowsmith and Blondie.Pat mused, “Woodstock is about making the most of our freedom while bearing responsibility for our lives in this Age of Aquarius. In the new age, life can never be the

same as we see sexual and gender roles change, the war end and climate change awareness.”Our Hunters Run three- day Woodstock weekend Festival was dreamed and conceived by Masone and the Entertainment Committee. In the Men’s Card Room, the memorable 1969 film, A Walk on the Moon started the Saturday celebration. The film takes place in the Catskills Mountains in NY and Woodstock. Sunday, the 1970 film, Woodstock, was shown. Highlights included jam sessions by the likes of musicians Jimi Hendrix and Richie Havens.Monday, a beautiful bevy of tie-dyed tee-shirts, the logo designed by Masone and reminiscent of peaceniks, delighted the eye and were worn by all celebrants as they grooved to the cool music of Peace of Woodstock, a band definitively focused on authentic Woodstock music. It all happened on our south driving range. There were sightings of hippies, flower children, ponytails, and award-winning, eye-popping attire.

A DAY ON THE LONG ISLAND SOUND

SUE WALLACE AND JOAN ROSS had a great time a few months ago---on land and on sea. They traveled on a Silversea cruise that began in Barcelona and ended in London, stopping in Mallorca, Cadiz, Lisbon, Oporto, Saint-Mailo, Guernsey and Portsmith. Besides the great food and interesting attractions, they got third row center orchestra tickets to see Hamilton and also had tickets for the new Tina Turner musical coming to New York City.

DOMINICK FERRARA TWO SWINGS…FOUR UNDER!On July 5th, 2019, Dominick Ferrara accomplished a nearly unprecedented feat in golfing history.

Dominic HOLED OUT his second shot for EAGLE on the par four 7th Hole of Hunters Run's South Course. On his very next swing, Dominick recorded a HOLE-IN-ONE on the par three 8th Hole!

Golfing records indicate the “eagle/hole-in-one” on back-to back swings has been accomplished just once before – by PGA Professional Jason Duffner at the 2015 Memorial Tournament.

PGA Professional Tyrrell Hatton recorded an “albatross/hole-in-one” on back-to-back swings during a practice round in 2017.

At a recent board meeting, Dominick Ferrara was presented with a plaque from director of golf John Oyler, in recognition

of his rare accomplishment.

MTDThe Men’s Golf Tournament Division (MTD) is underway for another exciting year of challenging team tournaments every Wednesday. Be the one who helps your team win the weekly Golf Shop credits by hitting the perfect pitch next to the hole or by hitting that extra-long putt into the hole. This long-standing tournament division offers a wonderful opportunity to join a 18, 12 or 9 hole sub-division, play in a variety of tournament formats, engage with different foursomes each week, renew prior friendships, meet new club members, make new friendships, share tips on lining up the perfect putt, and share histories and experiences while swapping gossip over lunch. And, win some additional “small bucks” by being closest to the pin or win the “big bucks” by making a hole-in-one. And, of course, the MTD has a yearly luncheon and annual gift. All of this for an annual fee of $90 plus tax charged to your club account, along with golf cart fees if applicable to you. So, if you have already signed up for this year, welcome aboard. And for the rest of you, sign up on the website or fill out the form in the Golf Shop. Finally, to build on the statement by Yogi Berra that “Ninety percent of putts that are short don’t go in,” it is written that “If you do not sign up for the MTD, you cannot play in the MTD!

As we welcome our winter members back, we have made the following changes: We have removed the greenside ropes on all the courses to make it easier and safer for our members to walk up and back to the greens. On many of the water holes, we have added yardage to the front of the water to help our members make a go/or no-go decision. We are experimenting now with thinner and lighter pins on the courses since the rule change of allowing pins in when putting. All the courses now have white ropes before the greens to designate non driving areas. Bulkhead work has been completed on East course holes 1 and 2. Bank restoration has been completed on East number 9.

WE ACED IT! PARTICIPANTS AND PARENTS PRAISE HUNTERS RUN FOR HOSTING JUNIOR CHALLENGE TOUR EVENT

The South Florida PGA Junior Challenge Tour is a series of two-day events at premier facilities for juniors 11-18 from across south Florida who meet certain scoring and age requirements. It is one of five tours in which young golfers can compete. On September 22 and 23, Hunters Run hosted this event on our East Course for 75 boys and girls, helped by the outstanding cooperation and assistance of our staff and a team of volunteers.

Everyone I spoke to had something amazing to say about your facility, staff, members, and how great the course was... I know every junior who participated would go back to play anytime they could!"

— Chad Peters, Junior Golf Director, South Florida PGA

AND THEN WE HEARD FROM THE PARENTS:

I have played golf since I was 14 and my 15 year old son has played since he was eight, competitively for the last three years. We have traveled all over the state and most of the East Coast and I have never been to a facility where I felt more at home. Your staff and volunteers, whom I assume were members, could not have been more inviting and friendly. I can tell you I was not the only parent that felt this way. I talked to at least a dozen others and we were all overwhelmed with the hospitality. I can assure it is not always this way at other private facilities. Please pass along to everyone that was involved how much we appreciated Hunters Run allowing our kids to play there and how welcomed we felt while there."

— Steven C. Dickinson

I can honestly say that Hunters Run was one of the most welcoming local clubs that Kayla has played at in the last six years. Joe and I will never forget it and Kayla said she hopes to play at Hunters Run again… So many friendly members, volunteers, great facilities and immaculate golf course. Hunters Run gets a thumbs up!"

— Lisa Bryant, mother of 11-year-old participant, Kayla Bryant

He wanted to compliment the golf staff, the volunteers and the club for the best run tournament they have attended. He was totally impressed with the level of professionalism and courtesy he was shown by everyone."

— Comment to one of our volunteers from a parent of two sons who competed.

Looking for a day filled with information on how to lead a healthier lifestyle? Then join us on Tuesday, March 3rd for the second Step up to Wellness Expo! The day will begin with a 3K walk through the community, followed by a healthy grab-and-go breakfast in the Lounge for all registered walkers. We had such a great response to this event last year, the vendor area is being moved to the Main Dining Room instead of the Ladies’ Card Room. Vendors will be showcasing a wide variety of products, activities and demonstrations from Cryogenic therapy, new approaches to age management, organic skin care products, and much more. NaturAmericas and Fitforlife will be returning. We will once again have speakers in The Palms to educate us on some topics such as clarifying the benefits of CBD and will review CBD products . The Biostation will be discussing new methods to maintain a healthy lifestyle. The Alzheimer’s Association will speak again, but their topic will be different. And, of course, we can’t forget our own Fitness Center! A variety of classes will be held there throughout the day to demonstrate classes that are currently offered as well as a few new ones.Registration forms, which will include descriptions of the speaker’s topics and fitness classes, will be available online and in the Media Center. There is NO CHARGE for the lectures, access to the vendors, or fitness classes!! We hope to see many of you throughout the day at the Expo as you come out and learn more about how to live a healthier life!!Joan Kelly- Co chairHeidi Rubin- Co chair

Most of us have kids. If we see, or know, behaviors or other issues that need to be corrected, we will kindly discipline them since it is for their own good. Needless to say, children can be stubborn at times.I’m no exception. My car’s dashboard indicated three days ago that I have low tire pressure. Sure enough, there is a nail in my front tire. I filled the tire with air, but I haven’t addressed the nail--- it is still there. My wife “suggests” that I take the car to the shop and while I’m there have the windshield wipers replaced. I told her I can see fine when it’s raining, therefore no need to make the change. In the same manner, I ask that you take care of your body. Maybe there is something that you think is a small matter that won’t become something bigger. If I don’t take care of the nail in my tire it will eventually deflate my tire, or worse, blow out the tire when I am on the road. You may not think you have to make a change in your life; I don’t think I need to change my

wipers. But, the reality is: I am not seeing clearly. Others see that I need to change the wipers. Are there people suggesting you get to the Fitness Center because they care about you? Am I making myself clear?I say this out of love because I care about each and every one of you here at Hunters Run.I am just as receptive to hear your suggestions. I want to provide the very best service to you here at the Fitness Center! I want to go beyond your expectations each and every day you come to the gym. Please come to me with any advice you have that can help me step up to a higher level. Help me to exceed your expectations. My staff and I are dedicated to you. My staff and I are Dedicated to Excellence.

BILL SHANELike so many of our new members Bill is here because this is where his friends reside. As an avid golfer he explains that the Hunters Run golf courses also played a large role in his decision to purchase his home on Villa Lane. Bill will be splitting his time between Boynton Beach and Voorhees, New Jersey. Growing up in Wynnefield- Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he attended Overbrook High School which is quite well known for its list of famous graduates, and counts at least 11 alumni who played for the NBA, most notably Wilt Chamberlain and Wayne Hightower. Penn State, Main Campus, is where Bill received his degree in accounting. His career began at Deloitte, having worked there for 11 years when a client made him an offer he couldn’t refuse. That was his entre into the “Death Care Industry.” Eleven years later that company was sold and Bill started his own company, buying existing cemeteries and funeral homes. Another company was started in the same industry, where he worked as the CFO until retiring in 2017.Though golf is a very strong contender for his time, Bill is eager to explore new opportunities to enhance his life as a recent retiree. The Jewish Community Center of Cherry Hill remains a place where Bill will continue lending his support. He has spent much time there over the years as an active member and volunteer.

Phillip and Linda SrokaCurrent members Meryl and Steven Spivack are longtime friends of the Srokas, and preceded them to Hunters Run, both couples having lived in Coral Springs before settling here.

Phillip and Linda are both originally from Brooklyn where Linda attended Sheepshead Bay High School and Phillip attended Tilden High School. Linda, nee Hiller, went to Brooklyn College majoring in Psychology--a very good

grounding for her career in pre-school education. Phillip got his CPA from Drake University and continues to work as an accountant. He also serves on the board of Broward Housing Solutions whose mission is to provide permanent and affordable housing opportunities for lower income or homeless people with disabilities or mental illness. Phillip serves as a beacon of hope for these folks in dire need of guidance and assistance. When the Srokas’ sons were eight and five, they left

New Jersey for Coral Springs and never looked back. Currently they spend a great deal of time commuting to LA to visit their children and grandchildren, but Westgate is their full-time residence.Phillip is still working, so his golf is limited but steadily improving; the same can be said for Linda’s game. They both love the golf at Hunters Run. Linda also enjoys mahjong and canasta. The couple love to travel and have been all over the world.

Jeff and Barbara KohenThe Kohens are extending our Long Island contingent as they are joining us from their home in Dix Hills, Long Island. They will still be splitting their time between Long Island and their home in Stratford, at least for now. Dave and Lynn Lipsky, also from Dix Hills, and good friends of the Kohens, led the way and have just recently become permanent residents.Barbara, formally Barbara Levy, grew up in Springfield, New Jersey, and attended Jonathan Dayton Regional High School. She graduated from Glassboro State Teacher’s College with a degree in elementary education. Jeff hails from Union, New Jersey, attended Union High School and Ryder College, from which he graduated with a degree in business. These days Jeff is retired and actively pursues his infatuation with all sports, especially golf. Working part time in a jewelry store keeps Barbara engaged and active but she always makes time for her dual passions – exercising and reading.Seems like Jeff and Barbara were destined to be together, even before they were born. Both sets of parents were friends in junior and senior high school but lost touch over the years. The two were “fixed up” by friends, and when Jeff was introduced to Barbara’s family, her mother loudly exclaimed, “He looks just like Bernie.” In fact he did, and it became clear that Jeff and Barbara’s parents, the former school friends, would once again be reunited and ultimately become one big happy family.

Joel and Andrea LevineHunters Run will be a bi-coastal destination for Joel and Andrea as their other home is located in Irvine, California. The plan is to spend about five months in Florida as Joel continues to practice law; Andrea is making a concerted effort to retire to enjoy her new home In Essex. Both were born and raised in New York City. Joel attended Tilden High School in Brooklyn, while Andrea’s roots are in the Bronx where she attended Columbus High School. Both went on to pursue a practice in law. Joel received his undergraduate degree at Brooklyn College and his Law Degree from Case Western Reserve.

Andrea Trupin graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in psychology followed by the University of Southern California where she received her law degree. The two met in a California courtroom while watching an ongoing trial. At the time, Joel was an Assistant United States Attorney and Andrea was a law student doing an internship. Joel continues to practice Federal criminal law - usually white-collar defense. They work together on the appeals of death penalty convictions in both the state and federal systems.Travel is paramount for Andrea and she has an interesting way of pursuing it- House Exchanging! Some of their successful exchanges included trips to Belgium, England and Denmark. Andrea explains that staying in someone’s home, in a residential neighborhood, allowed them to experience the venues in a unique way and provided a perspective not possible when taking a tour or even a self-guided trip.Other more conventional trips to places like Egypt, Africa, Japan, Portugal and Israel have added to their travel experiences.Running and sports are prime among Joel’s activities of choice while Andrea loves pursuing the arts, most especially acrylic and watercolor painting.

AREN RINALDI has always been a free spirit and an outdoor lover. Bent on helping humanity, her first self-imposed mission was helping the Arizona Navajo Indians. Since then, she’s had a variety of pursuits. She

started with an interest in geology and then majored in environmental science. Karen’s attendance at different schools reflects her growing self awareness and changes in direction. “When you’re young , you really need guidance in finding and pursuing the right direction, “ she admits. Right now, Karen works a 40 hour week in managed care as a RN Community Case Manager in Boynton Beach. She and her team focus on prevention: preventing patients’ re-admission to hospitals and preventing gaps in care after hospitalization. Post-discharge care is Karen’s mission and her work has her traveling throughout Broward County and even as far as Port St. Lucie . At the same time, Karen is committed to advancing her education and career and is pursuing a post masters degree. She goes to class eight hours a week and spends most of her time at home doing homework.Eventually, Karen plans to get her doctorate. Her ultimate goal is in the medical field and taking a holistic approach to diagnose and prescribe, as a nurse practitioner.Karen, an accomplished tennis player, has been playing tennis since she

was four years old-. She was on the tennis team at Rockland Community College. Karen loves to play at Hunters Run whenever she can make the time in her whirlwind tight schedule. At Hunters Run for five years, Karen and fiance, Jeff Orland, really enjoy the life. Spending time with family and walking are two of her favorite things. With great expectation, Karen’s looking to the future and having more time to relax and enjoy more activities at Hunters Run.”You know, I believe in healthy living, healthy eating and people being good to each other,” reflects a thoughtful Karen.

RECOGNITION FOR SYLVESTER HELPS PAP CORPSThe PAP Corps Champions for Cancer Research is an organization that raises money for research of ALL cancers at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Sylvester's work enables patients in South Florida to receive world class cancer care without traveling outside the area. Besides the major facility in Miami, they also have satellite sites in Kendall, Hollywood, Plantation, Coral Springs, and the newly extended one in Deerfield Beach.

As only one of two NCI-designated cancer centers in South Florida and just 71 across the country, Sylvester was recognized for cutting-edge cancer research in its laboratories, treatment plans for patients in clinics and hospitals, and reaching out to medically disadvantaged communities with innovation prevention and strategies.

As president of the Hunters Run chapter of the Pap Corps, I am proud to be part of our group that has been working to raise money for Sylvester for 24 years. Having the NCI designation will now recognize the important work that the doctors have been doing and how fortunate we are to have this wonderful facility so close to us. Joining our organization will not only contribute to this charity, but it will also afford you entry into seeking medical assistance with their doctors in a timely fashion.

Contact Lois Schneider, the VP of membership, if you're interested. Also, I am always looking for volunteers to help in our efforts. Please contact me if you can help. Thank you.

HOW’S YOUR

VISION?

Today is a momentous day for the University of Miami and its Miller School of Medicine as we announce that Sylvester Comprehensive Care Center has received the prestigious National Cancer Institute (NCI) designation. Sylvester is the only NCI-designated cancer center in South Florida, and one of only two in the state of Florida.
