Page 2: Magazine film Review Analysis

Title of Film – the title of the film is in the

centre of the page, immediately underneath the image, this is so that the audience are able to see the name of the film. Another attraction to the audience is that the title is in bold capital letters; again this is a lot larger than the review itself as it is there to attract the audiences attention.

Title of Section – The title of the section is

at the top of the page so that the viewer is aware of which chapter they are on. The logo is bold and in a bright orange so that it is noticeable if you were flicking through pages.

Quote – A quote is used to start the review.

It is small and catchy to grasp the audience in to read the article. The colour is different to the title and the rest of the page so that it catches the eye of the reader.

Production Information – The

production information includes relevant information about the film such as credits and cast information. This is before the review so that the reader has an insight of what is involved within the film.

Enlarged Text – The enlarged text is a

sentence from the review so that it grabs the readers attention. It is interesting so that the reader will read the text in order to find out more about it. The sentence is in upper case letters to help attract the attention, as well as being in a different colour.

Colour Theme – Throughout the page there is a colour theme.

This colour is a mixture of orange and reds. This will be thought about as it will match the genre of the film. For example it mentions that there is romance in the film the red colour theme may resemble the love and romance within the film, this is also more obvious with the image being of the man and woman.

Main Image – The main image is what can only be the main

characters in the film. You are able to see from the mid shot the way they are stood with each other, that romance is involved even though the genre is fantasy/thriller this is therefore challenging the codes and conventions. The image takes up a majority of the page as this is the main thing which entices the audience to read the article.

Review Content – The review content is

half the page as that is the main focus of the magazine.

Page 3: Magazine film Review Analysis

Title of Magazine – The title of the

magazine is at the very top of the page in the font and colouring. This is to continue brand identity and for the reader to still be aware of what they are reading,

Title of Film – The title of the film is at the

top left hand side of the page so that it is the first thing the reader sees. The word ‘Suspect’ is in capital letters to help stand out. The colouring of red reflects the genre of it being a thriller as red stereotypes blood which can be related to the content.

Review Content– The review content is

split throughout the double page spread. This is to split the information up to make the pages not look like there is too much to read as that could put a reader off from reading it.

Smaller Images– The smaller images are

to help split up the text. They are also there to add more information about the story too the page so that the reader can see other shots which are included. It also adds attraction to the page as it makes the page look m ore interesting as it has more imagers which will draw more readers in.

Star Rating – The star rating is at the top of

the page so that the audience can see it straight away when the y see the image. This can help to entice the accidence into reading the review and seeing the film as they will be aware that it has been given 5 stars which means it will be a good film.

Main Image– The main focus of the main

image is a close up of the girl which the audience can only presume is the main character. Her hair is messy and her complexion is very pale, this reflects the genre as she could come across as quite scary to a reader. In the blurred background you are able to see a young boy with a hat. You are unaware of any other features and makes the audience wonder who he is. This adds curiosity to the page and will make the audience read the review to find out.

Colour Scheme – The colour scheme is

red. This is effective as it reflects the genre of the film which is a thriller. The red colour scheme follows throughout both pages as the smaller images are also outlined in red which helps to grab the readers attention.

Double Page Spread – The double page

spread is very effective as it means more images can be within the pages which help to grip the reader. It also means more information can be written about the film.

Extra Text – The extra information in the

corner of the images engage the audience as they will read the what is normally a quote from the article or the film. This can then lead them onto reading the content of the article.

Title of Film– The title of the film is at the

top left hand page in black bold writing. This is to catch the readers attention to identify the name of the film.

Quote – The quote is there to grab the

readers suspicion. As it is only three words this grabs the readers curiosity and will make them read the article.

Star Rating– The star rating is just below

the title so that the audience will be able to see it. This could draw the readers attention in to read the content as they will be able to see it is a good film. However this is a two star which can usually be considered quite low for a star rating.

Review Content– The review content is

spread out over two pages in columns. However I have realised the text is larger than other magazine reviews I have looked at.

Main Image – The main image is of a

character from the film. The mid shot is close enough for the reader to see their expression. However not much is given away from this as the viewer is unaware of where they are or what they are doing. This creates suspicion and will engage the reader. The colours black and gold are used to represent the genre horror.

Production Information – The

production information includes relevant information about the film such as credits and cast information. This is before the review so that the reader has an insight of what is involved within the film.

Enlarged Text– The enlarged text is a sentence from

the review so that it grabs the readers attention. It is interesting so that the reader will read the text in order to find out more about it. The sentence is in a different colour to help attract the audiences attention.

Extra Text – The extra information in the

corner of the images engage the audience as they will read the what is normally a quote from the article or the film. This can then lead them onto reading the content of the article.
