Who is the audience and how does my product attract them?

The audience that my magazine attracts

Before I made my magazine I had decided who I wanted to aim my magazine at so that then I could design and plan what my cover would like look, the colours that would be used and the features that would need to be included so that the audience would be attracted to my product.

I wanted to aim my magazine at young people, teenagers to young adults so from ages 16-27. The style I wanted to do was rock/punk because I knew then that I could have a bit of fun with it and I had a few ideas already.

The cover•The two main colours that I chose were pink and green. I thought these two colours worked well together and also go well with the rock/punk theme. They are also bright and so easily attract you.•Keeping to the rock/punk style, some of the text on the cover is slanted rather than being straight and in line. The slanted text gives it that edge and also makes the cover attractive to the younger audience.•The photo in the background had to work with the intended style and the colours. The pink scarf and guitar goes with one of the main colours and also they way that they are positioned and are posing have to be suitable for the style.

Contents page•I have kept with the same colours so that there is a flow between the whole magazine product. It keeps with the style and the intended audience. •Because of the style and the type of audience, I wanted to include more photos than text as a lot of text can make the product look boring. Also, as there is text and photos, it makes it look as there is a lot in the magazine. •Under the sub headings, I only gave a small description as it leaves it then for you to find out for yourself when you turn to that page.

Double page spread•There is a flow between all three parts so that it keeps the audience. The slanted text makes sure that it is not neat and in line so that it keeps with the rock/punk feel. Also the quote is important. I used “The bottle almost hit us! But it’s ok ‘cause I threw it back” because it’s got that rock/punk attitude and will also interest the young audience. •There is a grid layout but the fact that the text isn’t in column setting still gives it that messed around kind of look.•I wanted a fair amount of text as the audience always wants to find out a lot about the band in the interview.

•There also needed to be more photos to show more of the band and also interest the audience more and break up the block of text.

OverallOverall, I think I have been able to keep with the intended audience and the style that will attract them. As long as I had the cover sorted and made so that it was suitable the contents page and double page spread were then easier to make because it was just about keeping it similar to the cover by having the same colours, similar text and language and layout.

Thanks!
