33rd Melbourne Art FestivalThe Melbourne Art Festival Board of Directors would

like to welcome everyone to this year’s festival. We have relocated to beautiful Wickham Park in the hope that we can offer even more activities to our community in support of the arts. This is the 33rd Annual Melbourne Art Festival, a fine arts show comprised of up to 250 artists chosen by a jury for their unique styles and individuality. We kick off the weekend on Thursday April 20 with a party to honor our patrons and sponsors. Held this year at the American Muscle Car Museum, a great time is planned for all who attend. We then begin the Festival with our annual 5k Run/Walk winding through Wickham Park on Saturday, April 22, at 7:30am. Artist’s booths open at 9am both days. We also

have Artist Workshops, a Student Art Competition, a Kid’s World with lots of children’s activities, live music at the wonderful Amphitheater, an animal rescue event at the dog park and many other new surprises. We would like to thank our dedicated Committee members for working tirelessly to help plan and execute this big move. We struggled with the decision to move from our beloved downtown location but in order to grow and continue our mission to support the arts and artistic endeavors in our community, a move was inevitable. We worked hard to keep the integrity of the show as we planned our expansion and hope that everyone enjoys themselves in our new location!

Hua-Yao“Howie”

Tung

His unique stylecombines western

techniques and eastern quality which make a successful artist.

The artist Hua-Yao Tung, is from Taiwan. He is a gradu-ate of the Fine Art Depart-ment of Taiwan Normal University. There he studied traditional oriental art and western art before coming to the United States. On his arrival here he traveled to national parks, museums, zoos and botanical gardens in search of new ideas for his work. Drawing from his extensive background and his exposure to western cul-ture, he has created a unique style; combining modern technique with oriental

disciplines. He works con-stantly towards perfection.

Mr. Tung has painted and exhibited his work for 30 years. He has created a mix-media painting, combining ink, watercolor, gouache, pastel, acrylic, gold leaf, gold powder and a special texture. With thoughtful arrangement the artist has achieved a symphony of color and form in which each medium complements the others. He has success-fully blended the essence of nature with the oriental mystique.

His work has been national-ly recognized and featured in museums such as the Tampa Museum of Art in

Florida. In fact, his frequent First Place and Best of Show awards are impressive and no surprise to his following in the United States, Cana-da, Japan, South America, and Europe. His work is in numerous private and cor-porate collections includ-ing that of The Walt Disney Company, Du Pont Corpo-ration, and the City of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, as well as National Art Muse-um in Taipei, Taiwan.

Hua-Yao Tung, with his tra-ditional oriental approach and sensitivity, is rapidly gaining recognition as an outstanding nature painter.

Tung’s artwork is featured on our 2017 directory cover.

Legendary former Lynyrd Skynyrd drummer Artimus Pyle is all about the music. When he put together The Arti-mus Pyle Band, he wanted the band to be a proper representation of the true Skynyrd spirit, one that would do jus-tice to those incredible songs that Ron-

nie Van Zant wrote and sang with such conviction. The APB has done just that. With impeccable timing, soar-ing guitars, and gut wrenching vocals- The Artimus Pyle Band is a true and proper tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd, the band that has been the soundtrack to so

many lives. This Southern Rock band will be headlining the FREE Concert Night in Wickham Park on Saturday, April 22nd, 9:30 pm to 11 pm.Stage and sound is provided by Jack Link & Associates.

TUSK covers all the great hits of Fleetwood Mac. The five musicians comprising TUSK have been making music to-gether in various combinations and styles for over twen-ty-five years. It seemed only fitting that they should come together to form the Ultimate Fleetwood Mac Tribute, and pay homage to a group that dominated the charts during the band members’ formative years. Authentic-sounding and always respectful, TUSK replicates the sounds of one of the world’s best-loved, top-selling bands.
