Members of the Sikh community of Madera recently reached out to city officials expressing a desire to help fight the spread of COVID-19. They met up with first responders outside of City Hall with a donation of over 10,000 (yes, 10,000+!!!) masks to agencies in Madera County, including the City of Madera Police Department, Madera County Sheriff’s Office, Madera City Fire Department, Madera Community Hospital, and both City and County local governments. We are incredibly fortunate and thankful to have such outstanding people with an unconditional desire to serve humanity in our community. With the snip of a ribbon, the City’s new transit center is officially open for business. The project was launched in 2015, after securing a PTMISEA (Prop 1B) grant for $2.2 million, with additional funding of $3.2 million secured through a Federal Transit Administration (FTA) grant. These grant awards allowed for all design and construction costs to be funded through grant dollars – eliminating the need to pull from the City’s general fund for the project.

Miembros de la comunidad Sikh de Madera expresaron recientemente su deseo de ayudar a combatir la propagación de COVID-19. El grupo presento a trabajadores socorristas con una donación de más de 10,000 máscaras (¡si, más de 10,000!) para agencias en el Condado de Madera, incluyendo el Departamento de Policía de la Ciudad de Madera, la Oficina del Sheriff del Condado de Madera, el Departamento de Bomberos de la Ciudad de Madera, Madera Community Hospital, y los gobiernos locales de la ciudad y el condado.

El personal del Programa de Conservación del Agua es responsable de hacer cumplir las regulaciones de conservación del agua como se describe en el Código Municipal de Madera. El personal responde de alguna manera a cada uno de los informes recibidos relacionados con los clientes que no siguen las regulaciones de uso del agua. Con el corte de una cinta, el nuevo centro de tránsito de la Ciudad está oficialmente abierto. El proyecto se lanzó en 2015, después de obtener una subvención bajo PTMISEA (Prop. 1B) por $2.2 millones, con una financiación adicional de $3.2 millones garantizados a través de una subvención adicional de la Administración Federal de Tránsito (TLC). Este total de subvención permitieron que todos los costos de diseño y construcción se financiaran a través de estos dólares, eliminando la necesidad de obtener fondos relacionados con el fondo general de la Ciudad.

Espero ver florecer servicios, que sean innovadores y continuen a servir adecuadamente a nuestra comunidad en los años que vienen,” expresó el concejal de la Ciudad de Madera, José Rodríguez (Distrito 2), en representación del Distrito donde se construyó el proyecto.
