ROLLER SHADE VALANCE OPTIONS Clear Edge Valance with Insert

Using a 3 1/2” Clear Edge valance, a 3 1/2” strip of matching Roller Shade fabric is inserted into the valance channel. This is for use with inside or outside mount roller shades and panel track systems. We can also fabricate the inserts only.

3” & 4” Fascia System

For use with clutch operated or motorized roller shades only. This is an L-shaped, flat front, aluminum fascia with a face and bottom only, available in White, Black, Bronze or Anodized Aluminum for inside or outside mount. There are some size restrictions due to the rollup diameter of certain shade materials.

4” & 7” Dual Shade Fascia System

For use with clutch operated or motorized roller Dual Shades only, this is an L-shaped, flat front aluminum fascia with face and bottom, available in White, Black, Bronze or Anodized Aluminum for inside and outside mount. LAMINATED SHADES WITH CUSTOMER’S OWN MATERIAL For a truly custom window treatment, our COM Laminated shades uses your customer’s fabric to form a permanent bond to the selected shade material that coordinates uniquely and beautifully with your client’s decor. With COM Lamination, we can fabricate Roller Shades and Panel Track Panels to coordinate with your customer’s interior. COM fabric must be approved or sampled tested first.

Laminated Roller Shades Our lamination process starts by pre-shrinking the fabric by machine washing and drying. It is then laminated to a vinyl coated fiberglass fabric to form a permanent bond of customer’s fabric. The backing or shade material can either be light filtering or room darkening. Due to our splicing process, we can fabricate shades for windows that are wider than the width of the COM fabric, but some splices may be visible and cannot be helped. For shades with fabric splices, a room darkening material is recommended. All laminated roller shades come standard with a clutch roller system.

Laminated Panel Track Panels COM Laminated Panel Track panels give you the option of covering your customer’s larger windows or sliding patio doors with the same material used for their COM roller shades. The same bonding process is used for both products.

Ordering When ordering COM Laminated products, be sure to specify the shade cloth and color the material will be laminated to: Light Filtering – White or Room Darkening – White, off-White, Ivory. You can also specify control & bracket color (white or black) and chain color: Chrome (standard), White, Black, Stainless Steel, or Gun Metal have a surcharge. For panel track, cord and wands are available in white only, brackets are galvanized steel.

Fabric

Most COM can be laminated. Some exceptions include Silk, Suede, Velvet and wallpaper. Upholstery and other very thick, heavy or sheer fabrics are not able to be laminated. While we take every care with your customer’s fabric, we do not take responsibility for it. Unique or irreplaceable fabrics should not be laminated. Remember: we pre-shrink all fabric prior to the lamination process.

Testing We must test every fabric prior to your final order for lamination. We ask for a minimum 18” x 18” piece of COM, larger if seams will be required in the final product. This way we can see how the fabric reacts to lamination and the seaming process if needed. At that point, we can make our final recommendation for the final product.

Regular Roll/Reverse Roll All laminated shades are made regular roll with the fabric coming off the back of the roll. A reverse roll may be requested so the backing does not show at the top. However, once laminated, some fabrics will not reverse roll, and that cannot be determined until after lamination. PLEASE ADVISE YOUR CLIENT. Also, some top treatments will not allow a fabric to be reverse rolled.

Splicing/Seaming When COM fabric is spliced/seamed it is done by hand, and thus, aligned by eye. Splices are placed equal distance from each edge (two splices per shade, we cannot seam in the middle). Different fabrics react differently to the laminating, cutting and splicing process. As a result, some seams may be more visible than others. Vertical striped fabrics or fabrics that easily fray are examples of difficult fabrics to match. Please consider this when choosing fabrics for wide shades. INVISIBLE SEAMS ARE NOT GUARANTEED.

Fabric Telescoping & Tracking

Roller shades that exceed a 3-to-1 length to width ratio, where the shade is more than 3 times longer than it is wide, may have problems tracking or rolling up straight. This tracking problem, commonly referred to as telescoping, is an inherent characteristic of roller shade fabrics that are long & narrow and should be explained to your customer. We make every effort to ‘fine tune’ each shade, but shades with these dimensions are prone to this problem. 3 X LENGTH TELESCOPING SHADES ARE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.

Patterns While we strive to make all patterns as true to their direction as possible, horizontal and vertical patterns cannot be guaranteed due to the nature of woven and printed fabrics and the lamination process. There may be pattern run off in either direction depending on the fabric, the pattern, and/or the size of the shade. PLAID FABRICS, INCLUDING CHECKS, SQUARES OR ANY FABRIC WITH BOTH VERTICAL AND HORIZONTAL LINES ARE NOT ACCEPTED FOR LAMINATION.

Preparing & Shipping Fabrics Fabric supplied should be a minimum of 6 - 8” wider than the finished shade width and 24” longer than the window opening. Inspect the fabric carefully before shipping to ensure that there are no flaws, etc. We cannot be responsible for hidden flaws or soiling activated during the lamination process. At times, pattern direction and/or front & back of fabric can be questionable. Using a pencil, mark the selvage edge with an arrow to indicate the top, and/or indicate which side is the front of the fabric. Ship all fabrics for lamination rolled on a tube (folded fabrics can show crease lines on the finished shade). Be sure to include a packing list and mark the outside of the package with the fabric, company name, sidemark, and/or PO number. Orders should be sent prior to the fabric, with as much information as possible about the fabric, including fabric name, color, and yardage sent. If fabric is being shipped directly from the fabric company, the same information must be included on the package, eliminating the potential for errors in production.

Fabric Estimating For solid color fabrics or other materials with no pattern repeat, supply fabric 6 – 8” wider and 24” longer than the window opening for each shade. For Panel Track panels, treat each panel as one shade and add all the yardages together. For fabrics with repeat patterns that need to be seamed, see the chart below. This chart shows some of the most popular repeat patterns. Yardage is for single shades. For pattern repeats not shown, please call for more information. We will help you determine yardage.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

The order for the above-referenced Sidemark contains a Roller Shade, or Roller Shades that are three times longer than their width. Roller Shades that are at least three times longer than their width will tend to walk or telescope when rolled up. This can cause the shade to rub on the mounting brackets and fray. This may also cause the shade to roll up crooked. This is the nature of the product and will happen regardless of the manufacturer. Telescoping is NOT a Warranty Issue. Your client may need to guide the shade with their hand as it rolls up. Please inform your client of this situation. Thank you!
