For immediate release: Monday 7 August Made in Adelaide: Screen Scene – taking homegrown talent to Edinburgh Made in Adelaide’s inaugural Screen Scene program takes over Edinburgh’s renowned Cameo Cinema from 10-13 August with a showcase of award-winning feature and short films that express the unique cinematic vision of South Australia. Now in its second year, the Made in Adelaide program is presented by Arts South Australia at the world’s oldest and largest Fringe Festival, Edinburgh, now celebrating its 70 th anniversary. Adelaide boasts the world’s second largest Fringe event, and is Australia’s premier Festival City. The program transports audiences to the majestic coastal Coorong with Storm Boy (1976), celebrates recent destined-to-be cult film Windmill Theatre’s Girl Asleep, explores coming of age and coming to terms with a parent’s gender transition in 52 Tuesdays and delivers chills with a special late-night screening of thriller The Babadook. Completed by a celebration of recent festival-favourite short films all produced in South Australia, Made in Adelaide: Screen Scene is a snapshot of the creative talent that has contributed to Adelaide’s outstanding reputation as Australia’s home of independent cinema. South Australian Film Corporation CEO Annabelle Sheehan said: “Adelaide is known internationally for being a small, smart, art city, responsible for some of Australia’s most innovative creative output across the spectrum of the arts. This is never more obvious than through South Australia’s filmmakers and it is exciting to take this specially-curated program to the heart of Europe’s cultural life”. Curator of the program, SAFC’s Production Attraction and Development Executive Sarah Lancaster will travel to Edinburgh to present the screenings and progress SAFC’s relationship with the Scottish screen industry, meet with potential co-production partners and showcase South Australia’s many advantages as a production destination. Made in Adelaide: Screen Scene is presented as part of Arts South Australia’s Made in Adelaide program of shows and events across the 2017 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
