The connotation of the colours in the background represents the bodies of the people getting hurt in the film. The black and blue can represent their bruises and how a lot of violence. The iconography of the chain shows that mad people need to be maintained and trapped away from society. This the ideology that mad people are have to be maintained in order for society to be.
