SafetyHazard notes and safety instructions

MACO E-hardware may fail in emergency situations and in the event of a power cut. Manual actuation is possible with the drive moved to the final position and then into the neutral position. The E-hardware must not be used on windows which are designated as emergency exits.

Caution! Risk of short-circuit on live parts. Only authorised skilled personnel may commission the power supply unit on the mains voltage. The regulations according to VDE 0100 must be observed.

There is a risk of crushing and trapping due to the tractive forces and pressure. Never reach into the gap between the sash and window frame during operation.

Important! The drive is used without additional safety device up to safety class 3. During planning, the VFF (German professional association for windows and façades) leaflet KB.01 “Power-operated windows” or the brochure on the subject of “power-operated windows” published by the ZVEI (German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers‘ Association) must be taken into account.

For the higher safety class 4, there are suitable safety edges for squeeze protection, e.g. from Mayser GmbH, www.mayser.de or protection using infrared sensor systems, e.g. from STG Beikirch, www.stg-beikirch.de.

Handle noteCaution: The handle moves automatically and must not be obstructed during motor operation. To reduce the high latching resistances with new handle escutcheon covers, it is advisable to weaken the snap action function by removing the snap catches on the escutcheon cover. Do not use any handles with locking function or hardware shifting lock

Due to the linking of the central locking system, there is a small amount of play/loss of travel. As a result, the handle may not be exactly vertical in the final position after motorised actuation. This is not a technical defect, instead it is the result of the tolerances in the hardware overview.

Installation

a) Manual inspection (handle operation) of the smooth running of the window function, as well as free entry into the striker plates. For setting options, see assembly instructions with hardware overview for the comfort scissor stay.

If there is still some stiffness, then striker plates with modified gasket compression can be used (info from MACO).

b) All moving parts and locking points of the turn&tilt hardware, in particular all corner elements, must be lubricated before the E-hardware is first commissioned. No lubricating oils, rust removers, silicone sprays, etc. should be used! Lubrication only with adhesive lubricant with PTFE in spray format, e.g. OKS 3751 or equivalent.

c)

*

All steps must also be carried out during annual maintenance by trained skilled personnel.

d) Inspection of the handle torque after setting the window. Max. 5 Nm.

e) Then motorised inspection with the commissioning device, see page 18.

E-hardware fittingMounting the contact receiver on the E-hardwareThe contact receiver is placed in the milled out Eurogroove on the housing (small sleeve on the upper side of the E-hardware drive unit) before the E-hardware is inserted. To do so, the small cable is pulled through the cavity between the faceplate and deadbolt 1 and inserted into the sleeve provided on the upper side of the E-hardware housing with the mini plug 2 .

Then the contact receiver is screwed using two self-tapping screws 3 . It is important to ensure correct positioning before screwing it in, as this differs for left and right-opening windows.

E-hardware fittingInstalling the turn lockThe small profile adjustment plates provided are placed under the turn lock before it is inserted and screwed. These can be broken off the frame for each frame profile. The height of the lip on the frame profile must be measured in advance.

1 Measure the height of the lip on the frame profile 2 Place small profile adjustment plates beneath

Important: When implementing the 6 m cable, ensure that a loop of 200 mm is formed. The loop is either pulled directly into the cavity in the profile or fixed to the underside of the frame with a cable strap.

This makes it possible to replace the contact later if required. This provides sufficient excess cable for the electrician to connect the new contact transition.

MACO MULTI

16

InstallationRequirementInstallation must be carried out by qualified personnel or an electrician. The 24 V power supply unit to use is available from MACO as an accessory in the case of individual supply. However, there are central home control systems which already have an integrated 24 V power supply unit, e.g., from Aumüller GmbH.

The contact transition must be installed using the supplied contact transition set. See pages 13 and 14 for a description.

!!! Provide a loop for 6 m outgoing cable under the frame or in the profile cavity, see page 14. The 6 m cable requires a small loop of approx. 200 mm, so that the contactor can be replaced at a later point if required.

InstallationNote about initial commissioningThe E-hardware does not require a special commissioning sequence. Thanks to the integrated motor programming, it can be commissioned at any time regardless of the application. This means it adjusts itself following a power cut or during initial commissioning.

Scenario: The sash is manually opened, following motorised travel into the tilt position (power cut) and then manually closed.

The E-hardware re-adjusts itself immediately, so that it knows which position it is currently in. The adjustment process takes approx. 15 seconds. Then the window can either be operated by motor or manually.

Rocker switchA rocker switch is normally always used for the application, this means it is either open or closed. In the event of mishandling, the direction can be reversed at any time by pressing the other side.

If the same switch side is pressed repeatedly, each further signal is ignored.

Caution: The resistor shown on the circuit diagram is only required if two independent swit-ches (i.e. not rocker switches) are used for OPEN and CLOSED. Otherwise it would be possible to press both switches simultaneously. In this case, the resistor prevents a malfunction.

Commissioning deviceHandlingFirst the power supply unit must be connected to the building site power supply. Then the power supply unit is connected to the commissioning device. The 6 m ribbon cable must be connected to the corresponding marked pole of the connection terminals of the commissioning device, according to the colour assignment.

Connect the coloured wire of the ribbon cable to the positive pole (A, red) of the three plug-in terminals- Connect the middle wire of the ribbon cable to the middle terminal (B, yellow)- Connect the non-coloured wire of the ribbon cable to the negative pole (C, black) of the three plug-in terminals

Once it is connected, the E-hardware starts its position detection. Then the function can be checked using the rocker switch. To do so, it is sufficient to move the window once into the tilt position and once into the close position using the motor.

MACO MULTI

20

Commissioning deviceFabricator recommendation for the window handleAs different handles are used, there are different latching torques on the handle. These must be overcome by the motor and, in extreme cases, these can stop the motor. For this reason, it is ad-visable to weaken the latching function of the handle escutcheon cover by pinching off the snap lugs of the catch.

• Do not use any handles with locking function or hardware shifting lock.

Window maintenance and careAnnual maintenance and function check must be carried out by a trained specialist. This includes the following points:

• Inspect the function of the overall system by carrying out several cycles one after another

• Inspect the position of the sash in the overall system according to the hardware arrangement for comfort scissor stays

• Inspect the smooth running of the hardware and the free entry of the striker plates (see page 9)

1 All moving parts and locking points of the turn&tilt hardware, in particular all corner elements, must be lubricated before the E-hardware is first commissioned. No lubricating oils, rust removers, silicone sprays, etc. should be used! Lubrication only with adhesive lubricant with PTFE in spray format, e.g. OKS 3751 or equivalent.

2 Do not coat the hardware, remove any soiling.

3 Only use cleaning and maintenance agents that do not affect the corrosion protection of the hardware components.

4 Security-relevant hardware components must be examined for wear and tear at regular intervals.

• Motorised check and inspection of the contacts; in particular, check whether the contact surfaces are worn out.

The MACO E-hardware (= the motorised drive) is essentially maintenance free!

Important notes for the end userThe notes listed are explicitly visible on the supplied adhesive label and must therefore be stuck on in the area of the E-hardware (internal glass pane)!

- !!! Risk of crushing and trapping between the sash and window frame during operation!!!

- If there is a power cut during electrical operation, the motor remains in the position it was in when the power was cut. It also remains in this position when the power supply is restored.

- In order to electrically operate the window again, it must first be manually moved into a final position, whether that be tilted or closed (depending on the cycle that the motor was in when the power was cut). Then the window can be electrically operated again.

- Annual maintenance of the hardware components by trained skilled personnel is essential for ensuring perfect function.

- In the event of electrical mishandling, the direction can be reversed by pressing the other side of the switch. Please wait approx. 15 seconds for idle travel.

- Thanks to an intelligent wind load protection device, the E-hardware moves the window back into its original position in the event of excess load. From there, the window can be operated electrically again, or manually in the case of a long, sustained excess load.

- During motor travel, do not force any manual activation, this can destroy the motor parts.
