In 1981, thanks to the experience gained by the founders in the field of precision mechanics for moulds, ATS was founded; initially oriented towards small scale work on behalf of third parties and the manufacture of small moulds, the company became specialized in certain sectors, including the construction of machines for manufacturing sealing systems for hydraulic, pneumatic and hydraulic applications. Drawing on our many years of experience in synergy with our customers, including some of the major European manufacturers in the field, we have developed a wide range of machines covering many of the inherent processes, post-moulding, gaskets, and sealing systems in general. Some of the components processed on our machines are: Lip seals of all types; Back-up rings; Piston guide rings; Metal sealing rings (CortecoTM type); Scrapers; Rubber-canvas moulded gaskets and other types upon request. These components may be made of various

materials such as polyurethane, Teflon, rubber, canvas, depending on the types and models. Machines for processing Guide Rings

All our machines are designed to speed up the work steps, ensure maximum accuracy and reliability over time and at the same time offer maximum operator ergonomics and safety without compromise. In the specific case these machines have the task of performing the cutting operation of the guide rings, used for guiding the rods of the

hydraulic or pneumatic cylinders. Staying true to our philosophy of a modular approach to our customers’ problems, the machines are developed in a semi-automatic version with operator presence and an automatic unmanned version for high volume production.

Machines for Back-up Rings

These machines perform the radial cutting on the back-up rings, required to be able to insert them on the cylinder stems already assembled; very simple, effective and immediate to use, thanks to its pneumatic drive system. The machine can be used with any ring size, the only adjustment is made based on the diameter. The machine cycle is extremely quick, since the operator does not have to press the control elements (buttons, pedals, etc.) but only to manage the parts being processed.

Machines for processing Gaskets

The moulded gaskets must be processed in order to achieve the dimensional tolerances required by the standards as quickly and economically as possible. In response to the new challenges posed by the global market of overall cost reduction and a simultaneous increase in quality standards, ATS offers its customers machines and solutions designed starting from a basic concept that applies to all versions, with a constant evolution of the models, from the first model equipped with single spindle and manual loading/unloading, to the most advanced model, which is unmanned, with automatic cycle and automated control over the size and quality of the machined parts. The modularity of our machines is applied in the commonality of mechanical and control units that promote the use of the same equipment (such as tool holders, spindles and related gasket centring and mechanical jigs, tool slides) on different machines, optimizing their use, reducing the type and quantity of spare parts required, and consequently reducing the general life cycle costs of the machine or machines for each customer, and just as important, increasing reliability.

Consulting and Special Applications

ATS also offers consultancy services for optimizing production processes, verifying the logistic feasibility, technological and economic feasibility of certain solutions that are designed and agreed upon between the ATS and the customer. Starting from the needs of the customer and the standard solutions that ATS is able to provide, a feasibility study is implemented that leads to the formulation of a report containing a forecast of investment and any layouts necessary to understand the proposed application, in which our standard machines are integrated with special machines and equipment created ad hoc. Example: robots for unloading gasket moulding presses with related piece interface equipment; equipment for cutting sprues-gaskets; conveyor belts; gasket loading units with vibratory feeder and load robot; gasket control units, composed of conveyor belt and vision system for quality control of processed pieces and final good/bad separation.
