Autumn in the Macedon Ranges
Autumn in the Macedon Ranges is an explosion of colour, with Macedon and Mount Macedon in particular being recognised as one of Victoria’s top destinations.
The immaculately presented Open Gardens, and vivid reds and oranges of Honour Avenue are sure to impress, but while you’re here be sure to make the most of your visit. Macedon and Mount Macedon townships are buzzing with a great mix of pubs, eateries, bars, nurseries and art galleries.

Autumn Leaves on Honour AvenueHonour Avenue, Macedon
Take a walk under the trees down Honour Avenue. The spectacular avenue of oaks honours the 154 men and women of Macedon and Mount Macedon who enlisted for service during World War I. The avenue is especially magnificent at this time of the year with the autumnal leaf colour. You will be so amazed by the colours that you will forget where you are, so please remember to stay clear of the road and give way to traffic.
Please note vehicles are not permitted to pull over or park between the hours of 9am – 5pm along Honour Avenue. Penalties will apply. Please be aware that this is a residential area and remain respectful of people’s privacy.

Why not kick off your day with breakfast or coffee at a cafe or bakery in Macedon or Mount Macedon before taking a stroll down Honour Avenue or through an open garden. Wander through galleries or visit the nurseries before finishing your day with a glass of Macedon Ranges wine, paired with local fare at one of the pubs or restaurants.
Soak in the ambience of some of Victoria’s finest gardens behind the walls of the impressive Mount Macedon mansions, many of which are National Trust listed.
To find out more about which gardens are open during autumn visit visitmacedonranges.com/whats-on
An emotive experience and incredible views can be found on the summit of Mount Macedon at the Memorial Cross which commemorates Australia’s war fallen. Macedon Regional Park boasts diverse flora and fauna and a range of walking trails for all abilities. Visit Sanatorium Lake or climb Camels Hump and take in the views of Hanging Rock.
There is so much to do at Hanging Rock! Families can gather for a picnic or have coffee in the café. Walks can be taken on the trails that weave through the reserve or take a fishing rod and try your luck in the dam (don’t forget your licence). And of course, it’s also a must to walk to the top of the rock that boasts magnificent 360 degree views.
