orange feathers on their head.

• They are one of the largest penguins.

• The male penguin cares for the newly hatched chicks for 23 to 25 days while the female is getting food daily.

Interesting Facts

• Lovelace in the film “Happy Feet” is a Macaroni Penguin.

• Macaroni was a hairstyle in England. The bird was named this because of the yellow and black feathers sticking from the side of their heads. This resembled the men that wore feathers in their hat. This is what the song “Yankee Doodle” is about.
