MAAM – Open Air-Museum of Modern Architecture Ivrea Opened in 2001, the Museum stretches through a 2 km route which includes via Jervis and other contiguous areas that play host to the most significant buildings of the “Olivetti era”. The Museum offers clear and in-depth information about the modern architectural heritage of Ivrea. Walking down the pedestrian precincts which connect one building to the next, the visitor comes across seven information-points, strongly integrated in the urban environment and positioned in such a way so that they may map out one of the possible visiting routes. The information-points cover different aspects concerning the fundamental role the Olivetti industry played in issues connected to the fields of Architecture, Urbanistics, Industrial Design, Advertising Graphics and the cultural backdrop in which they took place. Seven fields of interest have thus been pinpointed: Olivetti and Ivrea; the local community and its social policies; architectural issues concerning the construction of factories and production-oriented environments; the Industrial Project; land-planning, brand image; housing. Along with the information-points, a Meet & Greet Information Centre has also been opened and is located inside the Social Services Centre building. It was conceived of as the real heart of the Museum. and the visitor is welcome to peruse further literature – booklets, photographs and films – related to the issues covered during the visit.
