MessageWarm greetings to my beloved Colleagues in
POGS and Friends!
As early as January this year, the Organizing Committee of the 2016 POGS Annual Convention and 70th Year Anniversary started its preparation for this much awaited event after its composition was duly approved by the 2016 POGS Board of Trustees and please believe me there is no other way I can say this. Our Annual Convention and 70th Anniversary Celebration will be held on
November 8-11, 2016 at the PICC and the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Hotel with the theme “POGS@70, SUSTAINING EFFORTS to QUALITY WOMEN’S HEALTH” please remember the date and mark them in your calendar for the committee is so working truly hard leaving no stone unturned against the odds of the time to offer you a balanced program to experience in keeping up with the advances in knowledge and skills to provide better health care.
The dynamic Scientific Committee as to date have come up with its nth edition and still counting of painstakingly and exclusively selecting with optimistic heart and spirit on how best we can improve to achieve our objectives to address the definition of best practice, patients safety and the true meaning of what standard of care is in servicing our patients. A step, a leap to move forward to a higher level of learning, we keep in mind the thrusts our President have projected and the FIGO’s challenges posted to us in its Agenda on Sustainable Development Goals based on strengthened solidarity focused on the needs of the vulnerable. Promise, the committee is on track.
The topics were carefully selected to be abreast with what is happening locally
and globally. Mothers are still dying, stillbirths are on the rise, preterm births, Dystocia, an ever evolving great concern, cancer of reproductive tract, infections, etc it seems endless. There is so much to do, so much to learn. We have invited the best speakers from local experts, we have foreign speakers and those who have confirmed are from Australia Dr. John P. Newnham to give us The Western Australian Initiative in Preventing Preterm Births and to tackle Diabetic and Obesity Epidemic; Dr. Paul Fogarty an Irish to take up Reducing Global Stillbirths and Patient Safety, A Global Concern: Dr. Chyi-Long Lee from Taiwan to give us the latest updates on Laparascopic Surgery in Ovarian Cancers, to share with us the experience of a thousand Laparoscopic Radical Hysterectomy in Early Cervical Cancer is Dr. JH Nam from Korea and from United Kingdom, Dr. Austin Ugwumadu to tackle Subclinical Infections and Mid-trimester Pregnancy Loss and Management of Perinatal GBS Disease. Our very own experts will deal with topics on the local perspectives dealing with common Obstetrical and Gynecological conditions and what’s up in technology and their current status to improve diagnosis and management. There will be open dialogue sessions on PhilHealth and AHMOPI concerns and an hour with the President.
This Annual Convention activity is all for you. We are still working in progress. The Sports Committee is working on POGSLYMPICS or FUN RUN depending on possibilities which will be held on November 6, 2016 with the theme “CLASH of CLUSTERS”. The Social Committee is working on the Welcome Reception and the FELLOWSHIP NIGHT with a BROADWAY MUSICAL to ease your tired minds and hearts and bones, reminisce. All of these preparations are for us to be together once again. Please come! Hope really to see you there. Your presence will make a difference.
