This piece is a research project of my surname’s origins. My ancestry is tied to the Grahams of Montrose who served King Charles 1st in the Royalist Cavalier Army. This image is a badge of war inheritable to clan descendants.

The turtle symbolizes Mother Earth. Each square of it’s shell represents a world nation that unite in a circle. It’s four limbs represent the constantly shifting wind directions.

The turtle symbolizes one clan of the Mohawks. It signifies Mother Earth to Canadian Native culture.

Native False Face Mask. False faces are traditionally carved out of bass wood and used in Native ceremonial dance to ward off evil spirits in Canadian Aboriginal culture.

The loon is a clan symbol to the Native Ojibwa of the Great Lakes region. The feathers are also significant. To find an eagle feather could mean the Creator is giving you a personal message.
This was inspired after discussions with an Ojibwa chief.
