EDITORIAL

The Chamonix Valley is unique in the world but not at the ends of the world.

meeting facilities.

The Convention Bureau of the Tourist Office will be delighted to reply to all your questions and to

assist with the organization of your stay (transfers from the nearest airport, accommodation, meeting

sessions, catering, leisure, congress registration, accountancy of the event…

Your Partner in Chamonix Valley

The Chamonix Convention Bureau is the business department of the Chamonix

valley Tourist Office. Our mission : to promote Chamonix as a congress and

meeting destination and to help you organize all or part of your event. If you need our support to organize your event (from the planning to the final invoice), this work will cost from 10 to 16 euros (exclusive VAT) per participant (according to the number of services or

suppliers).

boarders. 88 km from the international airport of Geneva, 220 km from Lyon

(airport and train station). A very good road access makes Chamonix the easiest

alpine resort to reach in Europe.

THE MAJESTIC

CONFERENCE CENTRE The Majestic is a palace hotel built in the 1900’s. It is now a well equipped convention Center, but still retains the

luxury atmosphere of the last century. Located in the center of Chamonix, 200 m from the nearest hotels, the Majestic offers 10 magnificent rooms to suit events for 15

to 400 people. It is equipped with a complete range of visual and sound facilities. Furthermore, you can take advantage of a spacious entrance hall with reception desk and bar for refreshments.

The room « Michel Payot » was totally renovated in 2010 : a tasteful mix of Belle Epoque architecture, comfort of modern and technical equipment.

• LE CAP HORN

Located in the hearth of a pedestrian and typical street in Chamonix, the Cap Horn restaurant offers

contemporary cuisine for 140 persons. Seafood takes the starring role on the menu and the décor

takes its inspiration from both the sea and, unsurprisingly, the mountains. French windows open onto

a large, perfectly exposed terrace. A mezzanine above the main room provides a more intimate

setting. A lounge bar on the lower floor provide different atmospheres.

• L’IMPOSSIBLE

Love for the kitchen and good products, the pleasure to meet and surprise the guests. Donatella and Auro welcome you in their old farmhouse-chalet, dating from 1754 . Met, fish, vegetarian dishes, all delicious italian traditional kitchen in your plate, accompanied by a glass of wine from a list of more than 300 labels. The cooking follows the seasons. Ingredients are choosen from organic farms, in respect of the man and earth. All the dishes, fresh pasta, bread, biscuits, desserts, ice creams are homemade in respect of the Italian tradition: simplicity and exaltation of flavors and fragrances.

Conviviality, team spirit, sport & leisure activities…before a typical Savoyard

dinner ! Here are some evening suggestions :

• “ Trapper Evening ” : equipped with snow shoes and head torch, the participants will discover the

forest by night. Hot wine around a campfire and “Savoyard” menu.

• Snow Challenge : Combination of events for each team (sledge race, body curling, biathlon

shooting, Avalanche rescue exercise or Blind testing of local products). Hot wine and Savoyard dinner

after the activity.

• Ice Breaker Evening : Music, quiz, ice bar, dance floor during an aperitive

• Cham’Trophy : Combination of events for each team (snowshoe blindfold race, biathlon shooting,

descent on cable over a lake, rescue exercise on a climbing wall…). Hot wine..

• Murder Party: a game about justice investigation which will enjoy the dinner. A police inspector

will give clues to each team in order to find the criminal.

Provisional cost : from 75 euros / person according to activities and number of participants.

These evenings are organized by mountain professionnals : Chamonix Seminaires ,

Evolution 2, Haute Pursuit or Top of Europe.

• Le Chalet de Charamillon : Access by the last cable-cars of the day (around 5.00 pm),

Teambuilding activities, hot wine and dinner in the Chalet

de Charamillon (up to 250 seats).

Snow sledging or snowshoeing activity for coming back (no

possibility of cable-car down after dinner).

• Le Grand Hotel du Montenvers: what could be more amazing than a glass of wine or

Champagne with the view of the Mer de Glace , at 1900 meters ? Evening access by mountain train

and dinner in a typical restaurant overlooking the glacier and the fabulous rock faces of Les Drus, Les

Grandes Jorasses, l’Aiguille Verte…

Snow challenge : on a safe ski area. Test per team : parallel Slalom, surf race, gymkhana, surprise

rally … (Min 20 people).

Multi-Activities challenge : in the forest, near a river, a combination of tests : Tyrolean descent

over a river, monkey bridge, body curling, gymkhana with snowshoes, biathlon shooting, blind cheese

tasting.

Cham’Trophy : ½ day challenge in les Gaillands area, near Chamonix centre. Rock climbing initiation

; abseiling initiation; tyrolean traverse over a lake and mountain bike race.

Alpine Challenge: near the Argentière glacier, the group will be roped together in a particular way

:a tyrolean arm, via « cordata », abseiling, mountain biking or ice climbing.

« Treasure hunt» or « Geocaching » or « From Chamouny to Chamonix »

SKI AREAS of the Chamonix Valley

4 ski areas for all ski levels / 4 mountain sites to contemplate, to walk, to do activities …

Les Houches : 1010 m - 1800 m : Nature and ski family resort at the foot of Mont-Blanc. Slopes in

forest and the mythic “Verte des Houches”, theatre of the downhill world Cup.

Brévent - Flégère : 1095 m - 2525 m : sunny ski area facing Mont-Blanc. Cable-car departure

from Chamonix, ski slopes for beginners to good skiers.

In summer, the best view over the Mont-Blanc range, departure for several trekking routes.

Lognan –Grands Montets : 1230 m – 3300 : a prestigious ski area partly on a glacier, 2000 m

from the top to the bottom, an outstanding reputation, good quality of snow. For good skiers

Domaine de Balme : 1480 m – 2336 m. A large and sunny ski area with wide slopes partly in the

forest. For beginners, family and a relaxing ski.

In summer, access to various walking trails, nice view over the valley of Chamonix.

MONT-BLANC “UNLIMITED” : access to Brévent-Flégère, Balme, Grand Montets (2nd lift to the

top included), Les Houches, Aiguille du Midi, Montenvers, Tramway du Mont-Blanc and 1 day in

Courmayeur (Italy) the small ski resorts down the valley (Planards, Savoy, Chosalets and Vormaine).

“HAND FREE” SYSTEM

Magnetic smart card inserted in the ski passes and permitting the self opening of the lift control
