raiN Barrels aNd CisTerNs every year, Hampton Roads gets approximately 45 inches of rain. The rain that falls on hard surfaces (roofs, driveways,

roadways, parking lots) runs off into the storm drain and into the river carrying a wide range of pollutants with it. Storm water runoff is our number one water quality issue. You can capture some of that rain, keep it out of the storm drain, and use it for your gardens or your pool and pond.

Over the past five years, LRNow has sold almost 700 standard 56 gallon rain barrels. That is up to 40,000 gallons of water not going into the storm drain every time we have a rain event. You can calculate the amount of water that runs off your roof in a 1” rain event by multiplying the square foot area of your roof by .625. If your roof is 1,000 square feet, that equals 625 gallons of water from your roof alone.

LRNow is continuing to offer our standard gray rain barrel, but we are going to begin offering some other options as well: a larger 150 gallon above ground cistern and an attractive 60 gallon oak barrel. We are happy to be partnering with Mike’s Rain Barrels to offer these products to you. For all questions and orders, please contact our office at [email protected] or 757-962-5398.
