    THE LYDIAN DOMINANT

    First of all, let’s take a look at C Major Scale for example.

    Remembering these scale for comparing with the C melodic minor Scale:

    Comparing these two scale diagram we can see that the melodic minor scale came

    from the Major scale with atten third. !hen e"er# time #o$ see a Major scale with

    atten third it is a Melodic minor scale, the original melodic minor scale. %as#&&&

     !hen let’s take a look at modes. 'n Major scale (if #o$’"e alread# known) based on

    the fo$rth degree of the scale it was F *#dian scale (Mode). Same as the Major

    scale, the fo$rth degree of the scale in Melodic minor scale is F *#dian scale b$t with

    the atten se"enth. !hat is the *#dian +ominant Scale, in this case is F *#dian

    dominant scale. *et’s take a look at the diagram.

     

    Finall#, we’"e know that the *#dian +ominant scale came from the *#dian mode in

    Major scale with atten se"enth which is also the fo$rth degree of Melodic minor

    scale.
