Founded as a Roman colony with Cremona in 218 b.C., Piacenza was sacked several times due to its boundary location. Piacenza was governed by bishops from the 9th century to 1090, then it became a city-state. Afterwards, it was ruled by the Visconti and by the Sforza until 1449, when it became part of the State of the Church and then capital of the Duchy of Parma and Piacenza. After the Napoleonic Age, when our castle for sale was built, Piacenza was ruled by Marie-Louise of Hapsburg and then by the House of Bourbon until 1859.Its thousand-year-history has contributed to creating its relevant artistic heritage.
