All requests should be made 6 to 8 weeks in advance. Of course try anytime as we may have an unexpected available slot.
All jobs must be confirmed at least 10 days before we start to work. We have had some really bad experiences.
Requests must include :
• Name of the project • Type : housing, retail, library, station, urban... • Scope of work• Quantity and type of images required
(typically: exterior-eye level, aerial, interior)• Size of images and/or ratio • Date of material delivery (final model or plans)• Deadline
We may ask for a deposit before starting depending on the amount of work.
MATERIAL DELIVERY Approximately 2 weeks prior to the deadline (for up to 5 images) if we don’t model - otherwise 2 to 4 weeks. Ideally.
DELIVERABLES AND FILE TYPESThe final drafts renderings are normally provided in JPEG format, on a basis of 5.000 pixel wide image size.
PAYMENTInvoices are to be paid in full no later than 60 days from their date of issue. Good Kharma.
LEGALNone of our work may be copied, distributed, licensed, modified, published, reproduced or used to create derivative work without the express written permission of Luxigon.
- Deadline. We won’t work after the deadline. Seriously.- It’s not a joy to work late at night or over the week-end. Neither is it mandatory.- Do not send documents in the evening of a Friday- As a general idea the more freedom we have the better the images. We have been doing this job for quite a long time, we’re not perfect, but sometimes we can have some really clever ideas. - It is better to work on final documents - redoing things two or three times never leads to a good result.- Pressure is never helping.

TO START WORKING, WE NEEDPreferably in a nice PDF document
Scope of the project
Summary of project program / functions
Furniture: 3D model, description or reference Pictures of the site
Material descriptions or references
Brief conceptual description of the project Site localization / Google coordinates
Competition?
Diagrams are better, but sketches are useful too
it’s not mandatory but it helps a lot when we need to model the context. Google is great but real pictures, taken on site, provide more comprehensive information about the current situation of the location.
Long term project? Agreement?

TO START WORKING, WE NEED
Technical drawings in .dwg
Landscape description
Possible or already known viewpoints Lighting and mood reference
(masterplan/plans/sections/elevations) in a separate .zip folder

FILES TYPES WE LIKE
In the end your folder should look like this:
Click "Send"!
2D 3D
We’re mostly working with Cinema 4D and its integrated renderer (AR) or Vray. We also use 3DS Max with Vray.
Models done in other softwares need to be converted to files we can import. Generally .fbx or .obj are our friends.
If in doubt, ask us before making any move.
For 2D drawings we use dwg. PDF or Illustrator files are not suitable for modeling but are OK for patterns or
graphics.

3D MODEL (YOU DO)
Make the file comprehensible
Keep it light
Try to keep the model clean and readable
Organize
layer for roofs
layer for green areas
layer for pavements
layer for main buildings
layer for buildingslayer for roads
Name the different layers and objects in a way a human can understand (and not CH$-4Y-AA or Polygon 666).
Keep only relevant information. People, cars, trees are only making the file heavier. We will add them in post-
production or use our own.
Keep your model as tidy as possible, make sure there isn’t any hidden geometry or hidden layers.
The best is to organize layers by elements: slabs/columns/wall/partition walls/stairs/furniture...
Miscellaneous

3D MODEL (YOU DO)
Build your model with an efficient topology. Use polygons only where you need them.
Check that some objects are not duplicated at the same position.
Set your system and project units (for your software) to work consistently. Working in the right scale is important for both lighting
and physics simulation.
Optimize your geometry.
Glass without thickness is better. If you want a thick glass, make it 0.5 cm.
Please check for and remove non-welded points and coplanar surfaces.
Be careful when exporting complex geometries from external libraries.
If you want us to work with your textures, please provide them in high-resolution.
Place your model at 0,0,0 before exporting it.
CAD Documents we need (clean, needless to say)

3D MODEL (WE DO) Extra cost and time
NEED AN ANIMATION?
Masterplan
Elevations
Please send us a model that is detailed from all sides. Nobody wants to see holes.
Plans
Indications of functions, landscape and materials
Please provide a synopsis of the animation describing key moments.
Some quick sketches can save a lot of time
If you don’t have a soundtrack you may send us some reference sounds. We usually edit the sequences according to the soundtrack.
Please, no jazz-rock.
Sections
The white cubes syndrome
3D Model in a single layer Nobody knows what "dusk" really is
Let's all be nice

IMPORTANT
Please do not send us white cubes with reference imagesAlthough many of us are architects, we cannot transform cubes into an architectural project.
For obvious reasons it does not help.
That's how great work is done.
Please send us some reference images. Dusk can be a vast term, better be precise.

COMMENTS
Try to group all comments in a single PDF and not in a constant flow. We give preference to written
comments over comments by phone or Skype.
Only one interluctor is highly desirable. It's mayhem if not.
We reserve the right to charge extra depending on the complexity of the adjustments
(changes in model, recomputing the scene...)
Be consistentConsolidate comments
Annotate on the views
