FIRST READING Hebrews 10:19-25

A A reading from Hebrews

19Therefore, my friends, since we have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus, 20by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain (that is, through his flesh), 21and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22let us approach with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who has promised is faithful. 24And let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds, 25not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

A Word of God, Word of Life. C Thanks be to God. (Please stand if you are able)

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION

THE GOSPEL John 4:19-26

P The Holy Gospel according to St. John C Glory to you, O Lord.

19The woman said to him, "Sir, I see that you are a prophet. 20Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain, but you say that the place where people must worship is in Jerusalem." 21Jesus said to her, "Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such as these to worship him. 24God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth." 25The woman said to him, "I know that Messiah is coming" (who is called Christ). "When he comes, he will proclaim all things to us." 26Jesus said to her, "I am he, the one who is speaking to you."

P The Gospel of the Lord. C Praise to you, O Christ.

APOSTLES’ CREED C I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen

PRAYERS OF INTERCESSION

(After each petition concludes with “Hear us, O God,” the congregation responds, “your mercy is great”)

PEACE A The peace of the Lord be with you always. C And also with you. A I invited you to share the Peace of Christ with one another.

OFFERING SONG Take My Life, That I May Be ELW 685

Take my hands and let them move at the impulse of thy love; take my feet and let them be swift and beautiful for thee.

OFFERING PRAYER P Let us pray C Everything in heaven and earth belongs to you. We joyfully release what you

have entrusted to us. May these gifts be signs of our whole lives returned to you, dedicated to the healing and unity of all creation, through Jesus Christ. Amen

THE GREAT THANKSGIVING

P …You bid us return to you and be renewed, that your justice may shine like the sun and the poor of the earth be lifted up. And so with the Church on earth and the hosts of heaven, we praise your name and join their unending hymn:

EUCHARISTIC PRAYER

P In the night in which he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus took bread, and gave thanks; broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying: Take and eat; this is my body given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.

Again after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it to all to drink, saying: This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me.

Remembering, therefore, his welcome to outcasts and his eating with sinners, his own hunger and thirst, his death and resurrection, we proclaim the mystery of our faith until he comes again to share the feast that has no end.

P Holy God, holy and merciful, receive our prayers and praise as Jesus received the

cries of the poor, and renew us by your Spirit, until your mercy mends all that sin has torn and we feast forever in the company of Jesus, through whom all glory and honor is yours, with the Holy Spirit, in your holy Church, now and forever.

P Lord, remember us in your Kingdom and teach us to pray:

LORD'S PRAYER

C Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen

Helping Hands for February

Help re-stock the food bank shelves by bringing in non-perishable food items during the month of February. Together, we will help provide food to single mothers, families, and seniors who are in need. All non-perishable foods are needed, especially canned fruits, macaroni and cheese, canned chili, canned meals, boxed cereals, and canned meats such as tuna. It’s as simple as picking up a labeled grocery bag in the Narthex or Faith Center, filling it up, and bringing the bag back! The food will be delivered to the Orangevale Food Bank and the River City Food Bank, both of which we partner with during God’s Work Our Hands.
