In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Jesse M. Unruh Institute of Politics, Bill Boyarsky— former L.A. Times journalist, Unruh biographer, and Friend of Jesse M. Unruh— will moderate a series of informal discussions with
figures in California politics.
The first guest in the series is Robin Kramer, Chief of Staff to Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaragosa. Kramer served in the entrepreneurial administration of Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan, joining as Deputy Mayor for Communications and Community Affairs and becoming Chief of Staff in 1995. Previously, she served as Chief Deputy for Councilmember Richard Alatorre (1985-1990) and Councilmember Bob Ronka (1978-1981). Kramer also spent time as a public relations executive, executive director of the Coro Foundation, and as director of the Democratic Party of Southern California. Kramer holds a BA in Political Studies and Journalism from Pitzer College in Claremont, and an MA in Urban Studies from Occidental College.
