Luminescence workshop aimed at developing the interests of X and XII grade students in the field of engineering. It was an intensive program held for students that focusses on techniques and skills in the Electrical and Electronics field. The idea behind workshops is to provide a complete hands on which gives them technical exposure. Students have learnt various techniques used in PCB circuit design, soldering and simulation. This workshop focusses on enlightening the students in electronics, communication and electrical fields of engineering.

Projects handled during the workshop were:

• Traffic Light controller• Water level indicator and controller• Flashing LED

The students were very enthusiastic about the workshop, and the response was overwhelming, which has reflected during the feedback sessions from the students and accompanied school teachers.

1. Black Box - ECG of the CarWith industry pace fast growing in automation, it becomes highly impervious to retrofit a black box in the modern day automobile to track the spot and the scene of the accident. For years, airplane crash investigators have had the benefit of retrieving data from the flight-data Recorder or "black box." This data has proven invaluable for helping to determine what happened in the seconds before a crash.

The current work focusses on developing a black box similar to the ones used in aircrafts. This black box would be retrofitted to the cars and would record crucial data as well as alert police, ambulance and family members about the accident. The black box works on a simple principle of a small sim card embedded in this black box of the car. Upon the accident with the air bags trigerred, the system picks up the last driven speed along with vital data from the speedometer of the car. As an additional and safety component, the processor in the black box would also send an SMS to four numbers previously stored in the sim card viz. Police, Ambulance, fire service and one personal family member alerting the accident. Once the message is received, the police, fire service and the ambulance could track the spot of the accident through GPS of the sim card and then provide life support services as soon as possible.

This work aims at a social cause of helping people and alerting the concerned authorities in time of need.

2. AQUA SILENCER – AN ENVIRONMENTAL INITIATIVE FORPOLLUTION FREE TRAFFICA worldwide temperature alteration imperils our wellbeing, endangers our national security, and undermines other essential human needs. A few effects, for example, record high temperatures, rising oceans, and serious flooding and dry seasons—are as of now progressively regular. Our own vehicles are a noteworthy reason for a dangerous atmospheric deviation. On the whole, autos and trucks represent high emanation of carbon dioxide and other an Earth-wide temperature boost gasses for each gallon of gas.

In this context, aqua silencer is an initiative undertaken by the students and faculty of the institute to minimize the emissions generated by the vehicles in the gulf region. The basic principle used in the study is to pass the harmful emissions generated by the modern day vehicles through the aqua silencer, which would result in the harmful emissions being absorbed by an Eco- Friendly medium and then release the less harmful dilute gases into the atmosphere. This would definitely reduce the effects of global warming resulting in a pollution free environment. This initiative if implemented would be in addition to the already existing initiatives intended to reduce pollution and to make the entire region a pollution free environment.

3. EMERGENCY VEHICLE LANE CLEARING SYSTEM – A NEWAPPROACHOn an intersection, emergency vehicles have a hard time getting a clear path ahead of them therefore wasting their time.Let us take an example:Consider an ambulance responding to a medical emergency. The ambulance has to go through multiple traffic junctions controlled by traffic lights. When the siren goes off, the drivers are aware of the fact that there’s an ambulance on the road to which they are supposed to give way to. But only the drivers in close proximity to the ambulance know which lane to clear, not the drivers farther away from it. The drivers away from the ambulance will be confused and can only guess as to where the ambulance is and start changing lanes to clear the path for the ambulance. In this confusion, they might enter the lane in which the ambulance is trying to get through. This will block the path of the ambulance even further and waste precious time which can be used to save a life. Proposed Solution:We can overcome this problem by using Infrared sensors(IR) which consists of sensors infrared emitters and detectors. As and when the ambulance gets near an intersection, infrared emitters installed at the front of the ambulance send a signal to any car that is in front. The car would be installed with a detector which would detect the signal from the IR emitter, and cause a notifying device inside the car to light up and thereby notifying the driver that an ambulance is behind them. The Car after notifying would then send an IR signal in front of it, continuing the process using domino effect. As soon as the car moves out of the way, the car would no longer be a part of the IR chain & therefore would no longer be notified, thus this way we can ensure that the lane in which in the ambulance is would be given the highest priority& be cleared off faster thus saving more time. This method could also be used by not only ambulances but, police, & firefighters as well. The entire project is aimed at a social cause of creating a possible solution of enabling the needy in an emergency situation.
