PROFESSIONAL LIGHTING FOR SCHOOLS

Designers at LUG Light Factory, based on a broad portfolio of professional luminaires, create interior lighting designs which meet the appropriate norms. All the while, the effectiveness of LUG luminaires allows for a measurable reduction of electrical energy costs. The high quality and longevity of lighting systems limits expenses associated with upkeep, servicing and maintenance.

Proper execution of lighting designs for educational facilities is guaranteed by the professionalism and experience of our designers.

The lighting of school rooms should ensure an appropriate level of visual comfort, possibility of efficient reading and writing without excessive eye fatigue, in general, facilitate learning. Lighting should meet the requirements stipulated in the PN-EN-12464-1 norm from November 2012, which specifies in detail the appropriate level of light intensity on the working surface (0,85 m) in individual school rooms. When designing such lighting, a good level of equability is required in the visual task area (Emin/Emid > 0,70) and reduction of the glare effect, i.e. the incorrect distribution of illumination.

GLOSSARY

Luminairea device used to distribute or convert light from light sources contained within.

Light sourceelectrical device created in order to emit light, e.g. a halogen lamp, fluorescent lamp or LED diode.

Light intensitythe amount of light which falls onto the specified surface.

Light colour - colour temperaturethe general, subjective colour impression of the light emitted by the light source.

Colour rendering indexis the measure of color rendering fidelity, where the point of reference is sunlight (Ra = 100).

Luminaire’s luminous �uxthe total amount of light emitted by the luminaire.

Luminaire’s luminous efficacyvalue expressed in lm/W, i.e. the ratio of emitted luminous flux to power used by the luminaire.

Appropriate light intensity is essential in order to correctly light a room.In short, light intensity is a measurable value, yet impossible to observe.We only perceive the change after the projected light is reflected.

When selecting or designing lighting for school rooms one should take into account:- the parameters of light sources and of the luminaire itself- the intended durability and reliability of luminaires- energy-efficiency and exploitation costs of luminaires and light sources- technical requirements of the given project- conformity with the norms

In classrooms it is key to provide lighting which conforms to the norms, thereby facilitating work and studying comfort. For that reason, a class lighting design should take into consideration the varying daylight which illuminates the room through the windows. Thanks to using sunlight and application of a sunlight sensor, it is possible to decrease the intensity of artificial light even by 50%. This significantly reduces electrical energy costs and allows to optimally and evenly light classrooms.

Correct rooms lighting for vocational subject is a big challenge because many times it must meet a lot of stringent standards. Steam, moisture and dust are produced during practical classes. They float in the rooms and damage electrical equipment, including lighting fixtures. Therefore, it is necessary to mount professional lighting, suitably protected against external factors. The perfect solution for this type of rooms is fixture for so-called clean surfaces - MEDICA 1 LED, that due to high IP65 is correctly secured, maintaining the highest lighting parameters.

CRUISER LED

Gymnasiums, due to its size, require a large quantity of lighting fixtures with high luminous flux, which results in relatively high power consumption. Energy-savings is becoming a key issue of lighting design for this type of room. Application of CRUISER LED fixture provides savings up to 40% compared to conventional technology. Detailed calculations for a reference gymnasium are presented beside. Rooms lightings, where sport is practicing, must also meet standards for safety and ergonomics. CRUISER LED meets these requirements, thanks to its parameters. High IK08 guarantees high resistance to impact and compact shape allows the fixture for alignment with surface on which it is mounted. LED technology gives also great possibilities to control the lighting, that is essential in gymnasiums, due to multitude of applications of this type of rooms. Above visualizations shows the simplest method to increase savings by reducing light intensity in different extent in two parts of parquet: respectively to 30% and 50%.

A lot of after-school activities take place in school building. Compartments for this type of classes should be adjusted to different types of activities. It requires universal lighting. LUGSTAR LB LED p/t luminaire perfectly meets these requirements. LED technology, used in this fixture also gives very big savings. Calculations made on a sample room of this type, lighted with 20 light fixtures, allows to estimate that after replacing luminaires in conventional technology on LUGSTAR LB LED p/t light fixture, savings will achieve up to 65%. The undeniable advantage of the LUGSTAR LB LED p/t luminaire is extremely easy and fast installation. Complete installation of light fixture takes about one minute and indispensable tool is only a screwdriver.
