Administrator’s Accents The weather is beginning to warm up and we can enjoy the much- needed sunshine. Happy Mother’s Day wishes are extended to all. Hope you’ll join in the fun at the Special Tea Party on Saturday, May 11. May 6-12 is National Nurses’ Week. Each of our Nurses has a passion for service to the residents and families. Please join me in thanking Kamal, Resident Care Manager, and the Nursing staff: Lynn, Kelly, Donna V., Stephanie, Zandra, Regina, Donna D., Sharon, Precious, Navneet, Bridget, Karen, Maria and Alyson and all our Med Techs and HHAs. May 9 is National Receptionist Day and we wish to take the opportunity to thank Nancy, Tamara, Cynthia, Sandra, Deb P., Josie, Daniel and Deb G. for their outstanding service. Thank you for entrusting our team at Heathwood to provide the best care possible to you and your loved ones. Our goal is to exceed your expectations. Personality Profile Jean was born in Buffalo, daughter of John and Viola Riter. She met her husband, Guy Agostinelli, when his sister introduced them and they went to his Senior Prom. They were high school sweethearts and were happily married for 63 years. Jean graduated from Mount Mercy Academy and furthered her education at Bryant & Stratton Business School. Over the years she worked as a legal secretary but her main focus was her job as “Chief Operating Officer” of their home and helping to raise their son and 3 daughters. She is proud of her 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandkids, who she used to love to babysit. Jean played the piano and enjoyed playing golf, traveling and reading. A trip to Italy was their favorite. She is an excellent cook and is well-known for her spaghetti sauce and meatballs. Volunteering has been an important part of Jean’s life. She spent many hours helping out at Literacy Volunteers of Buffalo & Erie County and also at ComPeer. She found the time she spent teaching CCD First Communicants at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart to be the most rewarding. She enjoys our musical entertainment every Friday and is a regular at Monday Crafters. Heathwood was the site of Jean’s recent 85th birthday celebration and she treasured spending the afternoon with family and loved ones. Heathwood Emphasis We continue the tradition of honoring staff who have been employed at Heathwood five years or more at a special recognition dinner on May 16. The month of May is special because it was the original opening of our first facility, Heathwood Health Care Center in 1978, and is the anniversary of the opening of our Penfield location. On May 10, we are celebrating nine years at Penfield, and while Heathwood has had several evolutions over the years, we are proud to celebrate 41 years as an organization. The Club Membership includes 5-Year and Gold Club members. The Gold Club Members are staff who have been employed 10 years or more, and we honor those within this group at 5-year intervals. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone, regardless of years of service, for their dedication and commitment to upholding our Commitment to Care, Vision and Core Values summarized by our Mission — Care Without Compromise. Thank you for entrusting our team at Heathwood to provide the best care possible to you and your loved ones. Our goal is to exceed your expectations.
