Conventional Pre-Treatment

L&T’s expertise in the construction of Pre-Treatment Units for Industrial Raw Water is backed by its in-house capability to design and install equipment such as Lamella Clarifier, Tube Settler and High Rate Solid- Contact Reactor Clarifier as per the customer’s requirements.

Conventional Demineralization

Water demineralizing treatment plants set up by L&T help in removing salt deposits, minerals, nitrate and other hardness ions from water making it palatable for domestic and industrial use.

Advanced Demineralization UF-RO-DM

L&T has also forayed into advanced technologies apart from conventional demineralization plants using anion and cation exchangers. L&T offers demineralization plants with Ultrafiltration, Reverse Osmosis and mixed-bed Exchangers/ Electro de-ionization to provide consistent water quality with lesser usage of chemicals and construction resources.

Microfiltration and Ultrafiltration

L&T also helps in removing the suspended solids, bacteria through Microfiltration (MF) and Ultrafiltration (UF) with physical sieving separation process. Besides separation, this process reduces the turbidity and completes the effluent treatment process for the conventional treatment plant or act as a pre-treatment process for reverse osmosis.

Waste Water & Effluent Treatment

L&T has proven expertise in setting up Effluent Treatment Plants (ETP) and Common Effluent Treatment Plants (CETP) using advanced technologies like DAF, ACT, SBR, MBR, ASP, WAO, UF & RO for the treatment of effluent from various industries such as petrochemical and refineries, power plants, steel, tanneries etc. L&T has a skillful edge in constructing treatment plants that meets the stringent quality standards of the industry.

Sewage Recycling Plants

Sewage is a resource that can be recycled. Sources suggest that over 60% of the sewage generated in the country goes untreated and the government is earnestly sourcing for industries that can buy the sewage and treat it for their various industrial purposes.

Sewage Recycling Plants is yet another specialised area of operation in which L&T has a major presence. Several complex treatment projects have been executed using conventional to the latest UASB technology to remove inorganic and organic constituents from influent sewage.

Vizag Municipal Corporation proposed the diversion of Godavari waters and the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) implemented the Visakhapatnam Industrial Water Supply Project (VIWSP) on a commercial format through the Public – Private Partnership route. Special purpose vehicle in the name of Vizag Industrial Water Supply Company (VIWSCO) was formed for executing this project on a Build Own Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis.

L&T, as an EPC player, built the infrastructure that transmits water from Godavari through the Yeleru canal to meet the requirements of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, NTPC and other industries and also succors the drinking water needs of Vizag city.

Lift Irrigation Projects

In line with the country’s mission of boosting agricultural growth, L&T has executed many hallmark Lift irrigation project schemes which not only pump water from the source to the main delivery chambers but also distributes it to the field of beneficiaries by means of a suitable and proper distribution channel by means of pipelines.

Services offered include design and construction of intake wells, overhead tanks, pumping stations, distribution channels & pipelines and delivery cisterns covering civil, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation works.

Barrages

In order to regulate and stabilize river water elevation upstream for use in irrigation and other systems, L&T has constructed barrages in India across different rivers/states. The barrage also helps in diverting water and raises the water level only a few feet thus preventing flooding in high density rain prone areas.

Canal Systems

The Canal Systems in India are largely unlined and thus substantial water transmission to the destination is becoming scanty due to loss of water by seepage. Through a turnkey contract, L&T executed the Ali Sagar Lift Irrigation Scheme on the right bank of River Godavari near Kosli Village in Nizamabad District of Andhra Pradesh to lift 720 cusecs of water in three stages to facilitate irrigation.

The Sri Sathya Sai Water Supply project executed by L&T is a landmark project in terms of magnitude, diversity and coverage. Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition(SCADA)L&T has the end-to-end capability to design and install Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition(SCADA) for different Municipal Corporations of the States and helps monitor and improve the water supply distribution system through detecting, arresting and reducing leakages.

The SCADA systems installed by L&T provides Municipal Authorities complete information on water parameters such as flow and pressure of pipeline laid throughout network from the main control centre.
