The SMC (sheet moulded compound), GRP (glass-reinforced plastic) vehicle road plate trench cover is a lightweight and long lasting alternative to steel plates.

The 23/05 Road Plate is a heavy duty modular system comprised of individual units linked together.

Oxford’s Road Plate is a flexible and secure alternative to steel plates. There is no need for expensive lifting equipment as the Road Plate only weighs 143 lbs and can be installed in minutes with a 2 person lift.

The anti-slip surface provides secure pedestrian access and is ideal for use in residential areas. The integral Flexi-edge of the Road Plate is designed to help with noise pollution by minimizing road noise, as it dampens any unwanted sounds.

Easy to use and transport, this lightweight, long-lasting and robust plastic trench cover can take up to a 97,000 lb vehicle over a 4’ trench and can be used in many worksite applications, including work-site construction, excavation and streetworks. The Road Plate should be bolted down for carriageway use.

• Each Road Plate weighs approx. 143 lbs and should be lifted by 2 people using the EasiLift Handles.

• A competent person will need to determine if the trench walls are stable or require shoring.

• The marked center line on the plates need to match the center line of the trench thereby ensuring adequate bearing surface.

• The Oxford Road Plates are designed for use on asphalt or concrete surfaces. They should not be used on gravel roads, unpaved roads or over unstable ground.

PRE-INSTALLATION SAFETY GUIDELINES & MAINTENANCE

LOWPRO 23/05 ROAD PLATE – PEDESTRIAN TRENCH COVER

1. Check top surface of Road Plate for signs of damage.

3. Check linking plate bolts are tight on top.

2. Ensure all drop pins are moving freely.

4. Check linking plate bolts are tight underneath.

INSTALLATION KIT• Hammer drill & 5/8 drill bit

• Screw anchor 6 1/2” long x 5/8

• 15/16 wrench / ratchet

• 2 EasiLift Handles

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

2. Two person lift at all times using EasiLift Handles.

1. Ensure max trench width less than 4ft. Assess trench stability prior to install.

3. Lower into position.

4. Do not throw or drop on to edge.

8. When the connectors are in the slots carefully lower the plate.

6. Place first inner Road Plate section centrally over the trench, using centre line mark as a guide.

7. Lower next plate at an angle so the connectors fit into the slots.

9. Repeat previous step until entire trench is covered by inner Road Plate sections.

10. Use 6 1/2” screw anchor to bolt the Road Plate to the road.

11. Install end plate by hand at either end of the trench.

12. End plate is not load bearing. DO NOT PLACE END PLATE OVER TRENCH.

DISMANTLING INSTRUCTIONS

1. Remove screw anchor that were used to anchor the Road Plates to the road.

3. Repeat step 2 while using EasiLift Handles to remove each section at a time.

2. Starting from the end sections, carefully lift the plate at an angle and slide outwards to remove plate.

6. Do not use non-Oxford Plastics tools to aid lifting. EasiLift Handles are the most suitable and safest way to lift and move the LowPro 23/05.

8. Store on stillage.7. Clean after use.
