This year that 'summer feeling' is created with the help of jungle prints on shirts and home textiles, and a colour palette ranging from papaya yellow to fiery red. You don't have to head off to the Medi-terranean or Hawaii to experience it though – bring that paradise home to your own four walls, and wardrobe, with the tropical trend.

Discover chic that’s all about chemistry: leather, wood and concrete pieces swathed in a coat of gold, silver or copper for some much-needed shimmer. While metallics were once used only for brocade or embroidery, this summer they bring an element of glam in interesting new ways. Like a gold pair of leggings, a sparkly silver hand-bag or a copper coloured piece of jewellery – head-turning yet effortlessly cool.

Dream a little. Allow your gaze to wander. Allow yourself to be tempted and delve into a world of powders, sorbet and gentle colour gradients. A fresh smattering of pastel tones complement every skin tone and create a sense of summer. Like a trip to an ice cream shop: dip dye pieces, photo prints on delicate fabric, fantasy lands-capes, or playful portraits are laid out before you – the question is, which will you choose?

Ikat

Fanciful patterns allude to bygone eras and highly cultured societies, whose aesthetic is, once again, very wearable this summer. Bold zig-zags, Navajo motifs and Ikat materials cover cushions, clothing and jewellery - handmade details meet bold and powerful choices of colour. Celebrate the cultures of the world with a wild mix of patterns, or perhaps create focal points in your apartment with large printed ethnic textiles.

EENVELOPE BAG | These can be

found everywhere this summer. Either as

a shoulder bag with a strap or as a clutch:

envelope bags can be recognised by their

folded form.

FFLAMINGO | The most popular animal this summer, in the world of fashion, is the flamingo. In 5000 B.C. these animals were depicted in Spanish cave paintings...

facing 'V'. The pattern can be traced back

to Minoan ceramics from 1800 B.C. Its

similarity to the roof of a house means that,

even today, the pattern represents safety.

CLUTCH | This handleless bag is held or

tucked under the arm and is often brought out

for elegant and special occasions. A clutch is

often slim and holds only the most important

things, like make-up and small change.

DDIP DYE | Dip dyeing is when sections

of fabric, or a finished item of clothing, are

dipped in colour, to achieve gentle colour

gradients. This technique is also effective

when used in the making of jewellery and

bags.

AALOHA PRINTS | Also known as

Hawaiian prints - these became well known

outside Hawaii in the '50s. Later they

became increasingly popular patterns for

leisure wear. These prints were popular for

their flamboyant, colourful and lively patterns.

CCHEVRON | Although we tend to think

of zig-zag patterns when we hear 'chevron'

today, the name connotes an upward

LLEGGINGS | Especially popular this

season are leggings with metallic shimmers

and wild patterns. Leggings were originally

sports clothes but today they have long

been a part of everyday fashion.

PPHOTO PRINT | Photos are frequently

being printed on delicate textiles like

scarves, as well as onto tops. Whether a

landscape or a portrait, the use of realistic

images give textiles a unique appearance.

SSTATEMENT-NECKLACE | A neck-

lace that attracts attention: this could be a

result of a wild mix of materials, large pendants,

colourful beads or simply by being oversized.

This summer the statement necklace is often the main element of an outfit.

TTASSELS | Reminiscent of a paintbrush, a tassel is a bundle of material fixed at the top, that hangs downwards. Tassels were once common on uniforms, but are now popular details on bags, jewellery and clothes.

... and have fascinated people ever since due to their elegance and delicate colour. Not forgetting their special talent – balancing on one foot.

IIKAT | The typical Ikat pattern is achieved by dying threads before weaving. The pattern's name stems from the Malayan word "to wrap". High quality Japanese kimonos are still made from this fabric today. In Europe the pattern is celebrating its first revival since the 18th century, when it was still known as "Chiné".
