will help your child learn to read

Dear Caregivers,

Thank you for sharing my newest book with your child. Studies have shown that talking about what’s happening in a book helps children master pre-reading skills much faster than if they just sit and listen to a story.

This book will show you how to use the “5W’s” to ask your child questions that begin with “Who? What? Where? When? Why?” I have written some for you and you can make up your own. Please let your child turn the pages, point to the pictures, kiss, hug and chew this book! Have fun reading! —Tish Rabe

There are three things I’ll always do...

What is Mama Cat doing?

Where is the ball of yarn?

What are the kittens thinking?

Questions for your little reader:

love you,hug you,

read to you!

Where is Baby Polar Bear sitting?

What is purple?

What is their book about?

I’ll hold you close. We’ll share a book and read together—

take a look.

Where are the blue butterflies?

Why does Little Pony like books?

What does she like to do every day?

I’ll read to you every day.

Where is Mommy Monkey?

Why does Little Monkey love to read?

What do monkeys like to eat?

I’ll read to you before you play.

Where are the four leaves?

What is Little Puppy doing?

Why does Little Puppy love books?

I’ll read to you when bright leaves fall. We’ll pick some books and read them all.

Where are five yellow ducklings?

Why is Mama Duck reading to her ducklings?

What is their book about?

I’ll read to you when soft winds blow...

What is Bunny holding?

Who is he sitting with?

Why are they all together?

in summer sun...

What is Raccoon holding?

Who is reading a book?

Why are the friends all together?

and winter snow.

Where is the moon?

What time of day is it?

Why is Little Owl feeling sleepy?

I’ll read to you when stars shine bright.

Where is the bunny?

Why is Mama Bear kissing Baby Bear?

What will they do tomorrow?

Then tuck you in and say “Goodnight.”

What did the foxes just finish doing?

Where is Little Fox sleeping?

Why is Daddy Fox proud of Little Fox?

You’ll close your eyes. You’ll sleep and then...

Where are the orange leaves?

What is the weather like?

Why is Little Cub so excited?

tomorrow we will read again.

Where is the crown?

What is Mommy Elephant holding?

Why is Little Elephant so happy?

There are three things I’ll always do...

love you, hug you,

read to you!
