Dear Paula, Dear Diederick, Dear mothers and fathers. Dear sisters, Dear family, Dear friends, Dear Invitees, Dear animals, Dear nature, Dear living creatures, Dear air, Dear ……all that we (should) care forThank you all for attending and being here at this remarkable location • Congratulations to the bride and broom (Paula and Diederick) •Old Dutch Way: Hiep Hiep Hora, Hiep Hiep Hora, Hiep Hiep Hoera • Paula I already met many, many years ago; when at then I first met her she was: • Engineer at heart • Later on becoming detached from being “hard-coded” and exploring the other world; not clearly defined, the untouchable, the more spiritual journey…….the care for living creatures and nature; • So: •She set foot into yoga. Yoga in Sanskrit means to unite, to join or to attach…. •Although happy in exploring and learning doing yoga ; meaning being in sometimes extraordinary positions to be able to go beyond ‘yourselves’, …..Still something was missing; this was not enough, she was looking for something……beyond herself….. • It seems it was not enough united, jointed, or attached……it tasted for more however a very different bonding….. •It took some time and then: suddenly out of nowhere…………Diederick …………..It seems Dutch men are the favorites in the family…… • Engineer at heart: see his Facebook with these difficult geometric pictures: Mind bokkeling -Maybe one day Gustavo can explain to us-……, pictures looking into universe, and on the other hand, like Paula, not that hard-coded. Facebook shows care for living creatures and nature, care of sometimes the undefined, and the untouchable……….. •A whole transformation started for Paula; she quit her job and went to the Netherlands…….. • Looking at these, one can conclude that they are somewhat alike. • The question arises though: what got them together, what united them, what joint them, what attached them – of course beyond themselves…….. • Engineers at heart…….h hmmmmmm maybe……I am not convinced…., the care for living creatures and nature…….yes true, however and I still not convinced……. • Exploring the soul, with the help of some ancient ………let’s call it medicine through a shaman ….. • Yes it is a countributor………however, not enough to sustain long term……. • Their preference for vegetarian food………..also a contributor • But ……..I am still not convinced…. • Because all became known after they had met….. •So what was it? What made them yoga ? what made them unite, to join,to attach at first sight……or sound…… • If I am naughty…….one can think: Were they in a difficult pose when they met? hhhmmm………I think that happened shortly after they met……hopefully not that difficult….. •I could not find the convincing answer that satisfied me • So I was browsing through Paula’s facebook and Diederick’s facebook; nowadays that provides a lot of information on getting to know a person……. • Sure you have experienced the same: you know the answer is literally in front • of you, and still you are blind to it…….I was still not able to capture what “yogaged them” • We know they are different; like this marriage; anybody had a marriage like this? • While I yesterday was on the plane from London to Lisbon thinking about it and reflecting on it, a line from a song by Paul Simon ‘train in the distance’ came to my mind •“Everybody loves the sound of a train in the distance.” • You recognize the sound, you know what is coming and still you don’t see it, and upon close it is as clear as it can be…… • That could a metaphor that could help me……..to get to the answer………….. • What is that sound from the distance………..? • Listen…..again please listen……. • I here laughter………….. • Again • I hear a laugher, feel that vibration….Look…..Look you can hear it and you can feel it………… • Ever been greeted by Paula and Diederick…………before you walk in…..and they already have seen you coming, you can hear their sound,,,,,hear their laugh, • And upon getting closer, the sound is getting stronger, the more energy, vibration, and happiness is felt, is it contagious • Up on close, you can only melt and you see what it is: a bright and shining smile (jointly; united; attached): jonlty “HEEELLLOOOOOHHHH Paul” • One cannot escape the generous hug from Paula, One cannot escape generous hug from Diederick • And the hug the two together (make a movement being fully abraced) one is getting squeezed. • One is hugged that you feel….it feels longer in duration than you know it is and one is feeling content, safe, happy, ……. • This happily greeting struck me as being the ‘trademark’ of Paula and Diederick • In case you don’t believe me; look at • their Facebook and look at the pictures of Paula and Diederick…..always their teeth visible……in a big smile (showing teeth)….. ; or experience their greeting……. • Going back to the metaphor of • “Everybody loves the sound of a train in the distance.” • You can hear it from the distance, you recognize the sound and it sounds fabulous, and up on the sound is getting closer and stronger, and you already know what it is, and the more energy, vibration, and happiness is getting visible, it is contagious• And Up on close one is melted and you see what you already heard and knew what it was: a bright and shining smile •Suddenly I was convinced; • They jumped on the same train: they united their smiles, their laughter got jointed, and they got attached to that vibration that is providing their happiness……………. • So how to keep that train going? I am not a relation expert (I would be a bad example); nor I am a preacher…. Again: I am not a good example; doesn’t mean there is no sense of truth in it in my top three of staying united, jointed, attached: •Keep your ‘trademark’alive; live and relive it •Protect your joint heart; make sure that only you, Paula, and you Diederick, have the keys, and what is in that heart will not go beyond the two of you –keep that special spot there and indeed to provide access to nobody else-……..don’t forget filling it continuously with joint memories, experiences, “positions”……. - (like this marriage although this one is shared ) •Keep on being crazy ; sometimes we take ourselves to serious. Make yourself smile, make somebody else smile. Smiling and laughter makes living so much easier • Even if you are 124 years • And now I like to read a poem that is very applicable to both; it is from a Dutch artist Toon Hermans; who from the Dutch know Toon Hermans; I translated it into English: When somebody • Really loves you • Somebody you all trust to • And that really knows •Who you are • Even your weakest spots • By far Who is standing next to you, • And foregives, • One that is ‘next’ and • ‘Inside’ of you lives, • Only then you feel •What living is • And that is love •Giving is
